to be Surveyor-General for the purposes of the Land Act, 1924, on and from the 1st day of January, 1944.

to be a Gas Examiner for the purposes of the Board of Trade (Gas) Regulations 1924, on and from the 1st day of December, 1943.

William Traill

to be Chief Surveyor for the Auckland and North Auckland Land Districts for the purposes of the Land Act, 1924, on and from the 1st day of January, 1944.

to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Westport, on and from the 4th day of January, 1944.

Notice respecting proposed Alteration of Boundaries, City of Christchurch

Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 2nd February, 1944.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be excluded from the County of Heathcote and included in the City of Christchurch.

All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration of boundaries which they desire to lodge within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE EXCLUDED FROM THE COUNTY OF HEATHCOTE AND INCLUDED IN THE CITY OF CHRISTCHURCH

ALL that area in the County of Heathcote, Canterbury Land District, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the intersection of the north-eastern boundary of the Christchurch-Lyttelton Railway land with the northern boundary of Rural Section 91, the said point being on the boundary of the City of Christchurch, Block XVI, Christchurch Survey District (New Zealand Gazette, 1942, pages 2743-4); thence proceeding in a westerly direction along the northern boundary of Rural Section 91 aforesaid; thence southerly along its western boundary to the easternmost corner of Lot 1 on plan deposited in the office of the Canterbury District Land Registrar at Christchurch as No. 6729; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of that lot to and across Opawa Road; thence north-westerly along the south-western side of that road to the south-eastern boundary of Reserve 3803; thence south-westerly and westerly along the south-eastern and southern boundaries of Reserve 3803 aforesaid, to and across Bishopworth Street, and along the southern boundary of the land contained in certificate of title, Vol. 294, folio 59 (Canterbury Registry), to and across Port Hills Road; thence north-westerly along the south-western side of that road to the eastern boundary of Lot 3 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 10809; thence southerly along the said eastern boundary of that lot and the eastern boundary of Lot 1 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 5798 to the south-eastern corner of that lot; thence westerly along the southern boundaries of the said Lot 1 and Lots 2 and 4 on plan deposited as aforesid as No. 8156 to and across Rapaki Road; thence southerly along the western side of that road to the northern boundary of Lot 2 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 9206; thence westerly along the said northern boundary of that lot to and across Vernon Terrace; thence northerly along the western side of that terrace to the southern boundary of Lot 133 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 675; thence westerly along the southern boundary of that lot across a drain to the south-eastern corner of Lot 100 on plan deposited as aforesaid as No. 675; thence northerly and westerly along the eastern and northern boundaries of that lot to and across Victoria Road; thence westerly along the northern side of Roscoe Street and its production across Albert Terrace to a point on the boundary of the City of Christchurch aforesaid; thence generally northerly, south-easterly, north-easterly, and south-easterly by that boundary to the point or commencement.

Notice respecting proposed Constitution of Town District of Ohope County of Whakatane

Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 31st January, 1944.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General under the Town Boards Act, 1908, and amendments, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be constituted as the Ohope Town District.

All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed constitution of such district which they desire to lodge within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

SCHEDULE

AREA PROPOSED TO BE CONSTITUTED AS THE TOWN DISTRICT OF OHOPE

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, situated in Blocks II and III, Whakatane Survey District, being that portion of Allotment 246A No. 2, Waimana Parish, bounded: Towards the north-east by the Bay of Plenty; towards the east by the Maraetotara Stream; towards the south-west, west, and north by other Part 246A No. 2 aforesaid, as shown on the plan numbered 103/159/2, deposited in the office of the Department of Internal Affairs at Wellington.

Notice prohibiting the Use of Gas-producers through State Forests

IN pursuance of clause 3 of Regulation 10 of the Forest (Fire-prevention) Regulations 1940,* as amended by Regulation 6 of the Forest (Fire-prevention) Regulations 1940, Amendment No. 1†, the Commissioner of State Forests hereby gives notice that, except with a permit given by a Conservator or other Forest Officer, the use of the roads or portions of roads, specified in the Schedule hereto, by any vehicle operated principally by means of a gas-producer unit is prohibited during the period from the 1st day of August in any year to the 30th day of April in the following year (inclusive).

SCHEDULE.

THE roads or portions of roads to which this notice applies are as follows, namely:—

(1) That portion of the Rotorua-Waikaremoana Road between Waiotapu and Murupara, adjoining or passing through Waiotapu and Kaingaroa State Forests, and situated in Blocks III and VIII, Paeroa Survey District, and Blocks V, IX, X, XIV, XV, and XVI, Kaingaroa Survey District, Auckland Land District—a distance of twenty-three miles.

(2) That portion of the Dargaville-Opononi Road passing through Waipoua State Forest, and situated in Blocks II, III, and VIII, Waipoua Survey District, and Block XVI, Waoku Survey District, North Auckland Land District—a distance of eleven miles.

Industrial Man-power Emergency Regulations 1942.—Amendment to Declaration of Essential Undertakings No. 134

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by Regulation 11 of the Industrial Man-power Emergency Regulations 1942, the Minister of Industrial Man-power doth hereby amend the Declaration of Essential Undertakings No. 134 by including therein the undertakings set forth hereunder:—

Combined Rangitata Diversion Irrigation Race and Highbank Hydro-electric Scheme.

South Island Main Trunk Railway construction between Clarence and Hundalee.

NOTICE is hereby given that, in accordance with the Public Service Act, 1912, and its amendments, the regulations made thereunder, and the Government Service Boards Elections Emergency Regulations 1943, an election will be held during May, 1944, at Wellington, for the purpose of electing members of the Public Service Board of Appeal.

Nominations, to be made on forms obtainable from the Secretary, Public Service Commissioner, must reach the Returning Officer, Public Service Commissioner’s Office, Wellington, not later than noon on Saturday, the 1st day of April, 1944.
