HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following amendment to the New Zealand Gazette No. 22, dated 16th March, 1944 :—

The Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice declaring Land taken for the Settlement of Discharged Servicemen
WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the Land Sales Court to a transaction which relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies :
And whereas the Land Sales Committee to which the application has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the application relates is farm land suitable or adaptable for the settlement of a discharged serviceman or two discharged servicemen :
And whereas the said Committee, not being satisfied that the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the land, did on the 11th day of May, 1944, make an order determining the basic value of the land and no appeal from the said order was made within the time prescribed by the said Act or within any further time allowed by the Court :
And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty’s Forces or in any British ship :
Now, therefore, I, Clarence Farrington Skinner, Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, do hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of discharged servicemen, and I hereby specify the 14th day of June, 1944, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.
SCHEDULE
ALL those parcels of land containing together two hundred and fifty (250) acres thirty and five-tenths (30·5) perches, more or less, being Lots 226, 229, and part of Lots 225 and 228, Deposited Plan 107, being portions of Sections 23 to 28, Block I, Mataura Hundred, and being the whole of the land comprised and described in certificate of title, Vol. 59, folio 176 (Southland Registry).
As witness my hand, this 30th day of May, 1944.

ALL that parcel of land containing sixty-nine (69) acres two (2) roods and thirty-three and four-tenths (33·4) perches, more or less, being the residue of Lot 4 on Deposited Plan No. 14180, being portion of the block situated in Blocks II and III, Waihou Survey District, called Horahia Opou No. 1, and being the balance of the land contained and comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 328, folio 181 (Auckland Registry).
