NOTICE is given of the issue of Amendment No. 1 (dated April,
1944) to the New Zealand Emergency Standard Specification
entitled “Simplified Practice for the Manufacture of Women’s
and Girls’ Underwear,” which is cited in the Women’s and Girls’
Underwear Manufacture Control Notice 1943.*
Copies of the specification as amended may be obtained from
the Secretary, New Zealand Standards Institute, Lambton Quay,
Wellington C. 1, price 6d. per copy, post free. Each person who has
already purchased a copy of the specification is entitled to a copy
of the amendment free of charge.

CROWN LANDS NOTICE
Town Land in Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable
Lease
Auckland District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 19th April, 1944.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is
open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act,
1924; and applications will be received at the Auckland District
Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 11 o'clock a.m. on Monday,
26th June, 1944.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the
Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Tuesday,
27th June, 1944, at 10.30 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant is
unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board
or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the
examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required
to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the
first half-year's rent, broken-period rent, and lease fee.
SCHEDULE
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—TOWN LAND
Otorohanga Town District.—Otorohanga Native Township
SECTION 4, Block XII: Area, 1 rood 19.2 perches. Capital value,
£75; half-yearly rent, £1 17s. 6d.
This is a building section fronting Turongo Street, Otorohanga,
a quarter of a mile from the post-office. It is broken by a shallow
gully, and is liable to flooding on the southern boundary.
Any further information required may be obtained from the
undersigned.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICE
Milling-timber for Sale by Public Tender
State Forest Service,
Invercargill, 11th April, 1944.
NOTICE is hereby give that written tenders for the purchase
of the undermentioned milling-timber will close at the office
of the State Forest Service, Invercargill, at 3 p.m. on Wednesday,
3rd May, 1944.
SCHEDULE
SOUTHLAND CONSERVANCY.—SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT
ALL the milling-timber on that piece of land containing 138 acres,
situated in Block I, Lillburn Survey District, State Forest No. 53,
approximately eight miles from the Tuatapere Railway-station.
The total estimated quantity in cubic feet is 282,000, or in
board feet 1,807,000, made up as follows:—

Terms of Payment
A marked cheque for £320, being deposit on the purchase-price,
together with £1 ls., license fee, must accompany the tender, and
the balance be paid in twenty-one (21) equal monthly instalments,
the first of which shall be made one month after the date of sale.
Terms and Conditions

  1. All instalment-payments shall be secured by “on demand”
    promissory notes made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the
    Commissioner of State Forests, and interest at the rate of 1 per cent
    per annum in excess of current bank overdraft rates will be charged
    on all notes overdue from the date of maturity to the date of payment.
  2. The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold in
    accordance with the provisions of the Forests Act, 1921–22, the
    regulations in force thereunder, and these conditions.
  3. The aforementioned quantities and kinds as to the said
    timber shall be taken as sufficiently accurate for the purposes
    of this sale, and no contract for the purchase shall be voidable, nor
    shall the successful purchaser be entitled to any abatement in price
    by reason of the said timber being of less quantity or kind as stated
    herein or in any advertisement having reference to the said timber.
  4. A return giving the number of logs cut of each species and
    their contents must be made quarterly by the licensee on the last
    days of March, June, September, and December, respectively, in each
    year. A return must also be made on the same dates showing the
    output of sawn timber of each species. These returns may be
    ascertained and verified by inspection of the books of the mill, or by
