Altering and redefining the Boundaries of the Wharepuhunga-Korakonui and the Pukeatua Rabbit Districts.—(Notice No. Ag. 4068)

At the Government House at Wellington, this 12th day of January, 1944

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
WHEREAS by section thirty-three of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), it is enacted that the boundaries of two or more contiguous rabbit districts may from time to time be altered by the Governor-General in Council in accordance with a resolution proposing the alteration passed by the Board of each of the districts affected:
And whereas the districts known as the “Wharepuhunga-Korakonui Rabbit District” and the “Pukeatua Rabbit District” (hereinafter referred to as “the said districts”) have been constituted under and for the purposes of Part II of the said Act:
And whereas a resolution was passed by the Board of the Wharepuhunga-Korakonui Rabbit District on the twenty-second day of July, one thousand nine hundred and forty-three, and a similar resolution was passed by the Board of the Pukeatua Rabbit District on the same day praying in each case for the alteration of the boundaries of the said districts in the manner described in the said resolutions and in the First Schedule hereto:
And whereas it is deemed expedient to alter and redefine the boundaries of the said districts in accordance with the said resolutions and in the manner hereinafter provided:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the said Act, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby alter and redefine the boundaries of the said districts so constituted as aforesaid, and doth hereby declare that the area described in the First Schedule hereto, being now part of the Wharepuhunga-Korakonui Rabbit District, shall be added to and form part of the Pukeatua Rabbit District; that the boundaries of the said districts shall be those set forth in Parts I and II respectively of the Second Schedule hereto; and doth further declare that this Order in Council shall take effect on the date of the publication thereof in the Gazette.
FIRST SCHEDULE
AREA EXCLUDED FROM THE WHAREPUHUNGA-KORAKONUI RABBIT DISTRICT AND INCLUDED IN THE PUKEATUA RABBIT DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, in the counties of Otorohanga and Waipa, containing by admeasurement approximately 6,825 acres: Bounded, commencing at the junction of the Waipari River and Puniu River in Section 1, Block I, Wharepapa Survey District; thence in a south-easterly direction generally up the Waipari River to the north-western boundary of Section 6, Block VI, Wharepapa Survey District; thence in a south-westerly direction generally along the north-western boundary of Section 6 aforesaid to the Ngaroma Road; thence in a north-westerly direction generally along that road to the Mangaharakeke Stream; thence due south by a right line passing through Section 5, Block VI aforesaid, to the northern boundary of Section 2, Block X, Wharepapa Survey District; thence in a westerly direction along the northern boundaries of Sections 2 and 1, Block X aforesaid, and Section 1, Block IX, Wharepapa Survey District, to the Puniu River; thence in a northerly direction generally down the Puniu River to the point of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE
PART I
Boundaries of the Wharepuhunga-Korakonui Rabbit District
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, Otorohanga and Waipa Counties, containing by admeasurement approximately 44,325 acres. Bounded, commencing at the south-eastern corner of Section 10s, Pukemapou Settlement, in a northerly direction generally along the eastern boundaries of Sections 10s, 9s, 8s, 7s, and 6s, Pukemapou Settlement, to the northernmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence by a right line to the south-western corner of Section 1, Block III, Mangaorongo Survey District; thence again in a northerly direction along the western boundary of Section 1, Block III aforesaid, the eastern boundaries of Lot 2 on D.P. 25759, Rangitoto A part No. 1 on D.P. 12831, Rangitoto A part 1b 2 on D.P. 24007, and along the eastern and northern boundaries of Lot 2 on D.P. 8634, to the south-eastern corner of Rangitoto A 58b 2b Block; thence along the eastern boundary of the last-mentioned block to the southern boundary of the Tokanui Mental Hospital Reserve; thence in an easterly direction along that boundary to the Mangatutu Stream; thence in a northerly direction generally along the Mangatutu Stream to its confluence with the Puniu River; thence again in an easterly direction generally along the Puniu River, to and along the Owairaka Stream, to and along the Kaiwhio Stream to the Rotongata Road; thence in a westerly direction generally along Rotongata, Aotearoa, and Wharepapa Roads to the Puniu River; thence in a southerly direction generally along the Puniu River to the northern boundary of Section 1, Block IX, Wharepapa Survey District; thence in a westerly direction along that boundary, across a public road, and along the northern boundary of Section 4, Block IX aforesaid, to the Mangatutu River; thence in a north-westerly direction generally along the Mangatutu River to the northernmost corner of Rangitoto A No. 5 Block; thence in a westerly direction generally along the northern boundary of Rangitoto A No. 5 Block, to and along Mangatutu Road, to and across another public road; thence in a south-easterly direction generally along the western side of the last-mentioned road to the northern boundary of Section 9, Block IX, Wharepapa Survey District; thence along the north-western and south-western boundaries of Section 9 aforesaid to the northernmost corner of Section 11, Block XII, Mangaorongo Survey District; thence in a westerly direction generally along the northern and western boundaries of Section 11 aforesaid, to and along a public road, to and along the northern boundary of Lot 7 on Deposited Plan 11788 to another public road; thence in a north-westerly direction generally along and across the last-mentioned public road, to and along the north-eastern boundary of Section 3, Block XII, Mangaorongo Survey District, to its northernmost corner; thence along the north-western boundary of the last-mentioned section, to and along the north-eastern boundary of Section 7, Block XI, Mangaorongo Survey District, to Paewhenua Road; thence again in a north-westerly direction generally along Paewhenua Road to the north-eastern corner of Section 3, Block XI, Mangaorongo Survey District; thence across the said road to and along Mangaorongo Stream to its intersection with Maihihi Road; thence in an easterly direction generally along Maihihi Road to its intersection with the north-eastern boundary of Rangitoto A No. 15E 2 Block; thence in a north-westerly direction along the last-mentioned boundary to the south-western corner of Section 12s, Pukemapou Settlement, and thence in an easterly direction along the southern boundaries of Sections 12s, 11s, and 10s, Pukemapou Settlement, to the south-eastern corner of the last-mentioned section, the point of commencement.
PART II
Boundaries of the Pukeatua Rabbit District
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, in the counties of Waipa and Otorohanga, bounded as follows: Commencing at the south-western corner of Maungatautari No. 4h 8 Block, situated in Block V, Maungatautari Survey District; thence in an easterly direction generally following the boundary of the Waikato Central Rabbit District (Gazette, 1932, page 2133), along the southern boundaries of Maungatautari No. 4h 8 and No. 4g 2 Blocks, the eastern boundaries of Maungatautari No. 4g 2 and No. 4g Blocks, and a right line to the Maungatautari Trig. Station; thence in a south-easterly direction along the Matamata County boundary to the Waiteti Stream; thence in a southerly direction generally up the Waiteti Stream, along the western boundaries of Sections 10A and 7A, Tautari Settlement, the south-western boundary of Section 7A aforesaid and its production to the Mangare Stream; thence down the Mangare Stream and up the Waikato River to the northern boundary of Section 10, Block IV, Wharepapa Survey District; thence in a south-westerly direction generally along the Otorohanga County boundary to the Whatauri Trig. Station at the northernmost corner of Section 2, Block VI, Wharepapa Survey District; thence along the north-western boundary of Section 2 aforesaid to the Waipari River; thence in a south-easterly direction generally up the Waipari River to the north-western boundary of Section 6, Block VI aforesaid; thence in a south-westerly direction generally along the north-western boundary of Section 6 aforesaid to the Ngaroma Road; thence in a north-westerly direction generally along that road to the Mangaharakeke Stream; thence due south by a right line passing through Section 5, Block VI aforesaid, to the northern boundary of Section 2, Block X, Wharepapa Survey District; thence in a westerly direction along the northern boundaries of Sections 2 and 1, Block X aforesaid, and Section 1, Block IX, Wharepapa Survey District, to the Puniu River; thence in a northerly direction generally down the Puniu River to its intersection by the Wharepapa Road in Block I, Wharepapa Survey District; thence in a north-easterly direction generally along the Wharepapa, Aotearoa, and Rotongata Roads to the Kaiwhio Stream; thence in a north-westerly direction generally down the Kaiwhio and Owairaka Streams to the south-eastern corner of Maungatautari No. 4b Block; thence in a north-easterly direction generally along the generally eastern boundary of Maungatautari No. 4b Block, a public road, the eastern boundaries of Maungatautari Nos. 5a 1a 2 and 5a 1b Blocks, the Mangaohoe Stream, and the Parawera and Hairini-Puahue Roads to a point in line with the north-western boundary of the Puahue School site; thence along the generally eastern boundaries of Lot 1 on D.P. 6591 and Lot 2 on D.P. 3649 to the westernmost corner of Section 6s, Puahue Settlement; thence in a north-easterly direction along the south-eastern side of the road forming the north-western boundaries of Sections 6s, 22s, 3s, and 2s, all of Puahue Settlement, and its production through Section 1s, Puahue Settlement, to the north-eastern boundary of that section; thence in an easterly direction generally along the north-eastern boundaries of Sections 1s, 2s, 4s, 5s, and the generally northern and eastern boundary of Section 10s, all of Puahue Settlement, to the point of commencement: save and excepting the Maru Rabbit-proof Fencing District (Gazette, 1921, page 3008, and Gazette, 1923, page 1060), and Mangare Rabbit-proof Fencing District (Gazette, 1926, page 1218).

WHEREAS it is provided by section one hundred and sixty-eight of the Harbours Act, 1923 (hereinafter called “the said Act”), that the Governor-General may from time to time, by Order in Council, authorize any local authority or Harbour Board to reclaim from the sea areas not exceeding five acres in extent in any case where he considers that the reclamation will not affect navigation and is for the benefit of the public:
