Special Order made by Kawhia County Council altering Riding Boundaries and adjusting Representation
Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 7th March, 1944.
THE following special order made by the Kawhia County Council is published in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Act, 1920, in so far as publication is required by that Act. Pursuant to section 100 of the aforesaid Act, as amended by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act, 1921–22, I hereby fix the 31st day of March, 1944, as the date from which the redi vision of ridings set out in the special order shall take effect.

SPECIAL ORDER
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Counties Act, 1920, the Kawhia County Council hereby by way of special order resolves as follows:—
“1. On and after the 1st day of April, 1944, the Awaroa and Te Kauri Ridings of the county shall be abolished, and there shall be in lieu thereof a new riding to be known as the ‘Awaroa-Te Kauri Riding.’
“2. The boundaries of the said Awaroa-Te Kauri Riding shall be as follows:—
“All that area in the Kawhia County, bounded towards the north by the Oparau River and the Oparau Riding (as described in New Zealand Gazette No. 81 of 9th November, 1922, page 2957); towards the east by the Otorohanga and Waitomo Counties (as described in the Waikato and King-country Counties Act, 1921–22); towards the south by the Marokopa Riding (as described in the aforesaid Gazette, page 2958); and towards the west by the Waiharakeke Riding (as described in the aforesaid Gazette) and the Kawhia Harbour.
“3. The said Awaroa-Te Kauri Riding shall elect one councillor to the Kawhia County Council.
“4. At the first election of councillors held after the 1st day of April, 1944, and thereafter, the Taharoa Riding of the county shall elect two councillors to the Kawhia County Council instead of one councillor as heretofore.”
I certify that the above special order was duly passed at a special meeting of the Kawhia County Council held on the 14th day of December, 1943, and confirmed at a meeting of the said Council held on the 25th day of January, 1944.

THE following special order made by the Stratford County Council on the 18th day of February, 1944, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928.
SPECIAL ORDER
“That, under the provisions of section 4 of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, the Stratford County Council hereby resolves by way of special order that tuscan (Hypericum androsaemum) shall be deemed to be a noxious weed within the County of Stratford as from the date when such special order is gazetted.”

THE following resolution, passed by the Piako County Council on the 21st day of February, 1944, is published in accordance with the provisions of section 7 (2) of the Noxious Weeds Amendment Act, 1934.
RESOLUTION
“That the Piako County Council resolves and decides to assume responsibility for the administration of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, within the Piako County from the 20th day of March, 1944, and that in pursuance and exercise of the powers given by section 7 of the Noxious Weeds Amendment Act, 1934, the Piako County Council hereby appoints Ronald Daniel Eastwood, of Te Aroha, an Inspector under the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928.”

The prices of Preferred Commercial Grade are fixed on a basic rate of 4s. 8d. loose bushel.
