Government Railways Appeal Board.—Appointment of Chairman
C. L. N. NEWALL, Governor-General
WHEREAS pursuant to section nine of the Government Rail-
ways Amendment Act, 1927, Alfred Coleman, of Feilding,
Stipendiary Magistrate, was appointed as a member and Chairman
of the Government Railways Appeal Board to hold office for a term
of two years from and including the fifteenth day of July, one thousand
nine hundred and forty-two :
And whereas the said Alfred Coleman by reason of the pressure
of his Magisterial duties is unable to continue to hold the said office
of Chairman of the said Board: Now, therefore, I, Cyril Louis
Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand, hereby appoint as a member and as Chairman of the said
Board Harry Evelyn Anderson, Barrister and Solicitor, of Wellington,
to hold office in the stead of the said Alfred Coleman from and
including the sixth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and
forty-four, to and including the eighth day of May, one thousand
nine hundred and forty-four.

this 29th day of February, 1944.

Government Railways Appeal Board.—Appointment of Member
C. L. N. NEWALL, Governor-General
WHEREAS by notice in the New Zealand Gazette No. 11 dated
the twenty-fifth day of February, one thousand nine hundred
and forty-three, at page 239, James Stanley Roscoe was declared to
have been elected to act as a member of the Government Railways
Appeal Board for a term of three years from and including the sixth
day of February, one thousand nine hundred and forty-three :
And whereas the said James Stanley Roscoe is incapacitated by
reason of illness from acting as a member of the said Board:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
conferred on me by subsection four of section nine of the Govern-
ment Railways Amendment Act, 1927, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall,
the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, hereby
appoint as a member of the said Board Charles Wilfred Stewart White
to hold office for the hearing of the appeals lodged by Walter
Alexander Croft, William Malcolm McWhirter, and William Thomas
Leece.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General,
this 1st day of March, 1944.

Land permanently reserved in the Westland Land District for
Recreation Purposes

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section of the
Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that the Governor-General
may from time to time set apart temporarily as reserves, notwith-
standing that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any
Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes
in the said section mentioned :
And whereas by the three-hundred-and-sixtieth section of the
said Act it is provided that land temporarily reserved under the said
three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section may, at the expiration of one
month, but not later than six months, after the publication in the
Gazette of notice of such temporary reservation, be permanently
reserved, and that notice of such permanent reservation shall be
published in the Gazette :
And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto was, by
the Warrant dated the twenty-first day of January, one thousand
nine hundred and forty-four, and published in the Gazette of the
twenty-seventh day of that month, temporarily reserved under the
authority of the said Act for recreation purposes :
Now, therefore, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise
of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do
hereby permanently reserve the land described in the Schedule hereto
for recreation purposes for which purpose the said land was so
temporarily reserved as aforesaid.
SCHEDULE
WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT
RESERVE 1835, Block VII, Mawheranui Survey District: Area,
3 acres 3 roods 28 perches, more or less.

this 2nd day of March, 1944.

Lands temporarily reserved in the Otago Land District for Plantation
Purposes

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-fifty-ninth section of the
Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that the Governor-General may
from time to time set apart temporarily as reserves, notwithstanding
that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown
lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the
said section mentioned :
Now, therefore, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise
of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do
hereby set apart temporarily as reserves the lands in the Otago Land
District, described in the Schedule hereunder written, for plantation
purposes.
SCHEDULE
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT
SECTION 2 of 5, Block XIV, Lower Wanaka Survey District: Area,
125 acres 0 roods 35 perches, more or less.
Section 3, Block XIV, Lower Wanaka Survey District: Area,
153 acres 3 roods 7 perches, more or less.
Section 8, Block XIV, Lower Wanaka Survey District: Area,
183 acres 0 roods 36 perches, more or less.

this 2nd day of March, 1944.

Vesting the Control of a Scenic Reserve in the Whangarei Borough
Council

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred
upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act,
1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), His Excellency the
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest
the control of the scenic reserve described in the Schedule hereto
(being land reserved under the said Act) in the Whangarei Borough
Council, subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to
say :—

The period for which the control of the reserve is hereby
vested shall be five years from the date hereof, unless the reservation
is previously altered or revoked under the said Act. -
The said Council shall prepare a report each year ending on
the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of receipts
and expenditure in connection with the said reserve. Such report
and statement shall be sent to the Minister charged with the
administration of the said Act as soon as possible after the close of
the year. -
The said Council shall control the said reserve in accordance
with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made
thereunder.
SCHEDULE
WHANGAREI SCENIC RESERVE.—NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Borough of Whangarei containing by admeasure-
ment 84 acres 1 rood 30·6 perches, more or less, situated in Block XII,
Purua Survey District, being Lots 1 and 3 on the plan numbered
13936, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auck-
land, being part of Allotment 1, Parish of Whangarei, and being all
the land contained in Certificates of Title, Volume 384, folio 152, and
Volume 376, folio 226. As the same is more particularly delineated
on the plan marked L. and S. 4/212A, deposited in the Head Office,
Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon
bordered red.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General,
this 2nd day of March, 1944.
