Notice calling up Reservists for Service with the Armed Forces

National Service Department,
Wellington, 2nd March, 1944.

IT is hereby notified for general information that, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by Regulation 44 of the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940, I have, on 2nd March, 1944, issued to—

Eric James Bilham, Driver, 51 Premier Avenue, Point Chevalier, Auckland, Registration No. 648227,
Gordon Leonard Taylor, Farmer, Karaka Road, Papakura, Registration No. 648129,
George Fredrick William Fisher, Porter, Fox Street, Hamilton East, Registration No. 649037, and
Fergus Hugh McClure Walker, Music-teacher, 29 Peverel Street, Christchurch, Registration No. 649748,

notices calling them up for service with the Armed Forces, such persons having been severally convicted for that, being reservists belonging to a division of the Reserve the enrolment of which has been proclaimed, they did fail to make application in writing for enrolment in that class of the Reserve as required by Regulation 43 (1) of the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940.

CROWN LANDS NOTICE

Timber in the Otago Land District for Sale by Public Tender

District Lands and Survey Office,
Dunedin, 29th February, 1944.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders are invited, addressed to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Dunedin, for the purchase of milling-timber on Section 10s, Teviot Settlement. Tenders close at 4 p.m. on Friday, 24th March, 1944.

Terms of Payment

The successful purchaser is to pay one-half of the purchase-money, together with £1 1s. license fee, on acceptance of offer, the balance to be paid three months after the date of sale. In addition, a deposit of £50 is required as a guarantee against damage to fences and hedges; the deposit to be applied, if necessary, to restoration of fences and hedges.

Conditions of Sale

  1. The balance of the purchase-money shall be secured by “on demand” promissory note made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, and interest at the rate of 1 per cent. per annum in excess of current bank overdraft rates will be charged on all notes overdue from the date of maturity to the date of payment.

  2. The aforementioned qualities, quantities, and kinds as to the said timber shall be taken as sufficiently accurate for the purposes of this sale, and no contract for the purchase shall be voidable, nor shall the successful purchaser be entitled to any abatement in price, by reason of the said timber being of less quantity, quality, or kind as stated herein or in any advertisement having reference to the said timber.

  3. A return giving the number of logs cut of each species and their contents must be made quarterly by the licensee on the last days of March, June, September, and December respectively. A return must also be made on the same dates showing the output of sawn timber of each species. These returns may be ascertained and verified by inspection of the books of the mill, or by such other means as the Commissioner of Crown Lands may require, and for this purpose the account and books shall be open to the inspection of the Commissioner of Crown Lands or other duly authorized officer.

  4. The attention of all tenderers is drawn to the fact that the local controlling body may require the successful tenderer to pay any claims or charges which may be made by that body for the maintenance of the road over which the timber may be transported, and before a sawmill license is issued or any timber is removed a letter indicating that satisfactory arrangements have been made in this connection must be produced to the undersigned.

  5. Intending purchasers are expected to visit the locality and to satisfy themselves in every particular on all matters relative to the sale.

  6. If no tender is offered for the timber herein mentioned it will remain open for application for three months from the date of the closing of tenders.

  7. Fences, hedges, and culverts must be left in same order and condition as they are at present.

The conditions which will be inserted in the license to be issued to the purchaser, and any further particulars required, may be obtained on application to the undersigned.

LAND TRANSFER ACT NOTICE

EVIDENCE having been lodged of the loss of Memorandum of Mortgage No. 28511 (Gisborne Registry), affecting all the land in Certificate of Title, Vol. 54, folio 229, whereof LESLIE CECIL WAGNER, of Ngatapa, Farmer, is the mortgagor, and HENRY MOORE, of Makaraka, Farmer, is the mortgagee, and an application having been made to register a discharge of the said mortgage without production of the outstanding copy thereof in terms of section 40, Land Transfer Act, 1915, notice is hereby given of my intention to register such discharge accordingly after fourteen days from the date of the Gazette containing this notice.
