MOTOR IMPROVEMENTS (N.Z.), LIMITED
IN VOLUNTARY LIQUIDATION
NOTICE is hereby given that at an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders of the above company, held at the registered office of the company on the 28th October, 1943, the following resolutions were passed as special resolutions :—
“ 1. That the company be wound up voluntarily as a members’ voluntary winding up ”;
“ 2. That Mr. FRANK NICHOLLS, of Christchurch, be and is hereby appointed liquidator of the company.”

RESOLUTION
THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Pahiatua Racing Club (Inc.) at a meeting held on the 19th day of October, 1943, at Pahiatua, with a recommendation by the Chairman of such club, Mr. R. J. Smith, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by His Excellency the Governor-General in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.
Mr. R. J. Smith, the Chairman of such club and the meeting, moved, and Mr. P. J. C. Lloyd seconded, and it was resolved that such regulations should be adopted and that the Chairman and Secretary be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.
The following are the regulations referred to :—
PAHIATUA RACING CLUB (INC.)
REGULATIONS
(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)
In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Pahiatua Racing Club (Inc.), a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “ the said Club ”), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the Woodville Racecourse situated in the district of Woodville and known as the Woodville Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.

In these regulations the words “ bookmaker,” “ racing club,” and “ race meeting ” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.

The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely :—
(a) Bookmakers :
(b) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and bookmakers’ agents :
(c) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association :
(d) Common prostitutes and persons who habitually consort with thieves or persons who have no lawful visible means of support :
(e) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house-breaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering, or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908 :
Provided always that the Executive Committee appointed by the New Zealand Racing Conference, upon being satisfied by evidence as to character and otherwise that any person who, by reason of any conviction, comes within the scope of this regulation, should have relief from the effect thereof, may grant exemption to any such person, and may at any time revoke any such exemption without notice to such person, and without assigning any reason for such revocation.
The foregoing regulations of the Pahiatua Racing Club (Inc.) were made and passed by such club on the 19th day of October, 1943, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

ASHBURTON ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Ashburton Electric-power Board hereby resolves :—
“ That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on the loan of eight thousand pounds (£8,000), authorized to be raised by the Ashburton Electric-power Board under the above-mentioned Act for the construction and completion of electric works, the said Ashburton Electric-power Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-seventieth (1/70th) of a penny in the pound sterling upon the capital value of all rateable property in the Ashburton Electric-power District, as defined by Proclamation proclaiming the said area dated the 17th day of November, 1921, and extended by proclamation dated the 14th day of March, 1938; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of April and 1st day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-five (25) years or until the loan is fully paid off.”
Moved by Mr. H. R. Wilkinson, seconded by Mr. R. Mulligan, and carried.
Certified as a correct extract of the minutes of proceedings of the said Board dated the 21st day of September, 1942.
