1943-44)

A S in previous years, cards were sent out by post to grain-growers
and to potato-growers throughout the Dominion asking them
to state what areas they had sown or planted, or intended to sow or
plant, in wheat, oats, barley, and potatoes this season. It may be
well to note that only holdings of l acre and over outside borough
boundaries are covered by the figures appearing below. In the case
of potatoes a fair amount is grown on the smaller holdings and on
holdings situated within boroughs.

Notice to Persons affected by Applications for Licenses under Part III
of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936
Taking of Fish for Sale
MESSRS. F. Mazzola and A. Martillone have applied for licenses
to take fish for sale by means of the 16 ft. fishing-vessel
" Kai," using drag-nets, long lines, hand-lines, catches to be landed
at Petone and Lowry Bay.
Manufacture for Sale of Footwear
S. E. Marler, on behalf of I. Miller and Sons (N.Z.), Ltd. (a
company to be formed), has applied for a license to commence and
carry on in the above industry to the extent of manufacturing
women's shoes by the Sbicca-Delmac process.
Persons considering themselves materially affected by the
decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should
make any desired representations in writing not later than 25th
November, 1943, to G. L. O'Halloran, Secretary, Bureau of Industry,
G.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.
