Medical Supplies Notice 1943, No. 2

URSUANT to Regulation 6 of the Medical Supplies Emergency Regulations 1939, I, Michael Herbert Watt, Medical Supplies Controller, do hereby direct and give notice as under:

  1. This notice may be cited as the Medical Supplies Notice 1943, No. 2, and shall come into force on the day following the date of publication hereof in the Gazette.
  2. No person shall sell or otherwise dispose of, or offer or agree to sell or otherwise dispose of, by wholesale, any drug named in the Schedule hereto to any person except—
    (a) A merchant dealing in that drug by way of wholesale only;
    (b) A registered medical practitioner;
    (c) A registered dentist;
    (d) A registered veterinary surgeon;
    (e) The proprietor of a pharmacy within the meaning of the Pharmacy Act, 1939; or
    (f) A Hospital Board.
  3. No person shall sell or otherwise dispose of, or offer or agree to sell or otherwise dispose of, by retail, any drug named in the Schedule hereto, or any preparation containing that drug, except pursuant to a prescription signed by a registered medical practitioner and for the treatment of some person named in the prescription, or signed by a registered veterinary surgeon, acting in the practice of his profession.
  4. This notice shall not apply to any preparation containing any drug named in the Schedule hereto if on the day of the coming into force of this notice that drug has already been combined or compounded in that preparation with other medicinal agents.

SCHEDULE

THE following substances, if so prepared as to be drugs or substances named and included in the British Pharmacopœia or in the British Pharmaceutical Codex:

  1. Bismuth.
  2. Salts of bismuth.

Price Order No. 168 (Amending Price Order No. 127) (Main Crop Potatoes)

URSUANT to the powers conferred on it by the Control of Prices Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, doth hereby make the following amending Price Order:

  1. This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 168, and shall be read together with and deemed part of Price Order No. 127† (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Order”).
  2. This Order shall come into force on the 29th day of October, 1943.
  3. (1) Price Order No. 160‡, is hereby revoked.
    (2) The revocation of the said Order shall not affect the liability of any person for any offence in relation thereto committed before the coming into force of this Order.

APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER

  1. This Order applies with respect to all potatoes subject to the principal Order that are sold by a grower for delivery at any time between the 29th day of October, 1943, and the 30th day of November, 1943 (both days inclusive).

MODIFICATION OF PRINCIPAL ORDER WITH RESPECT TO POTATOES THAT ARE SUBJECT TO THIS ORDER

  1. (1) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the principal Order the actual price to be charged by any grower for f.a.q. potatoes and the maximum price to be charged by any such grower for under-grade potatoes shall be determined in accordance with the following scale, namely:
    (a) For Sutton’s Supreme or King Edward potatoes grown in the South Island and sold for delivery:
    Actual Price (f.a.q.)
    and Maximum Price
    (Under-grade).
    From 29th October to 30th November,
    £ s. d. ] Per ton f.o.b.s.i. 1943 (both days inclusive) .. 11 10 0 } a port in the South Island.
    (b) For any other variety of potatoes grown in the South Island and sold for delivery:
    Actual Price (f.a.q.)
    and Maximum Price
    (Under-grade).
    From 29th October to 30th November,
    £ s. d. ] Per ton f.o.b.s.i. 1943 (both days inclusive) .. 11 0 0 } a port in the South Island.
    (c) For potatoes (other than “tagged” potatoes) grown in the North Island and sold for delivery:
    Actual Price (f.a.q.)
    and Maximum Price
    (Under-grade).
    From 29th October to 30th November,
    £ s. d. ] Per ton f.o.r.s.i. 1943 (both days inclusive) .. 13 10 0 } the grower’s station.

(2) With respect to “tagged” potatoes the prices to be charged by the grower shall be not less than the prices fixed in accordance with paragraph (c) of the last preceding subclause, but may exceed such prices by an amount not exceeding 10s. a ton in any case.
