New Zealand Emergency Standard Specification amended
NOTICE is given of the issue of Amendment No. 1 (dated October, 1943) to the New Zealand Emergency Standard Specification for Bread, which is cited in the Breadmaking Industry Control Order 1943.*
Copies of the specification as amended may be obtained from the Secretary, New Zealand Standards Institute, Lambton Quay, Wellington C. 1, price 1s. per copy, post free. Each person who has already purchased a copy of the specification is entitled to a copy of the amendment free of charge.

NEW ZEALAND NAUTICAL ALMANAC AND TIDE-TABLES
MARINERS and others are hereby advised that only Part I of the Almanac will be published for 1944 owing to the paper shortage. Part I will be available to the usual purchasers and will contain a summary of alterations to bring the Port Information up to date. A limited number of Part II, Port Information, is still available to mariners who were unable to purchase the 1942 edition.
Part I will contain the following information: Astronomical ephemeris of the sun; daily times of sunrise and sunset at Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Wellington, with time differences for ascertaining similar times at Invercargill, Nelson, New Plymouth, and Westport; phases of the moon; mean places and meridian passage of stars and times of moonrise and moonset at Wellington. Tidal predictions, giving the times and heights of high and low water for the ports of Auckland, Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, New Plymouth, Wellington, and Westport; time differences by which the approximate times of high and low water at 104 places in the Dominion may be found; and tidal-stream predictions giving the approximate daily times of the flood and ebb streams making at Tory Channel and French Pass.
List of New Zealand lighthouses, radio beacons, and fog signals; list of latest dated charts of the New Zealand coast and harbours; list of licensed adjusters and coastal pilots, &c.; and a summary of alterations to bring the Port Information in the 1942 edition and Part II, 1943, up to 30th September, 1943.
Part II will contain the following information: Information and plans relative to ports in the Dominion; important Notices to Mariners issued by the Admiralty; caution when approaching and navigating within British ports; distress signals and procedure; regulations for preventing collisions at sea; signal letters of ships registered in the Dominion.
Part I will be published on the 1st November at Wellington, and afterwards may be purchased from Government Shipping Offices in the Dominion, or Marine Department, Wellington.
The Almanac is published by direction of the Hon. the Minister of Marine.

Appointment of Deputy District Public Trustee
NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of the power and authority vested in me by section 3 of the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1921–22, I, the Public Trustee of the Dominion of New Zealand have appointed Raymond William Hope, of the Public Trust Office, Christchurch, to be deputy of the District Public Trustee, New Plymouth, during the absence of such District Public Trustee from his headquarters from any cause, and all previous Warrants appointing any deputy of the said District Public Trustee have been revoked.
