THE following resolution passed by the Rotorua County Council on the 14th day of September, 1943, is published in accordance with the provisions of section 7 (2) of the Noxious Weeds Amendment Act, 1934.

RESOLUTION

"That the Council assume responsibility for the administration of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, within the Rotorua County as from the 1st day of October, 1943, and that the Minister of Agriculture be notified accordingly; also that the County Engineer, Mr. Thomas Stuart Robertson, be appointed Noxious Weeds Inspector for the County of Rotorua."

The Overtime and Holidays Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941, Variation No. 26

IN pursuance of the Labour Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Labour doth hereby order as follows :-

  1. This Order may be cited as the Overtime and Holidays Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941, Variation No. 26.

  2. This Order shall be read together with and deemed part of the Overtime and Holidays Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941 (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Order").

  3. The principal Order is varied as follows-namely, the provisions of the principal Order shall not apply to a worker coming within the scope of any of the awards specified in the following Schedule in respect of any occasion when such worker having worked for twenty-four hours (inclusive of intervals for meals), or all day and night or all day and up till midnight (exclusive of intervals for meals), continues to work on.

The Auckland Rubber Workers' Labour Legislation Modification Order 1943

IN pursuance of the Labour Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Labour doth hereby order as follows :-

  1. This Order may be cited as the Auckland Rubber Workers' Labour Legislation Modification Order 1943.

  2. This Order applies to Reid (New Zealand) Rubber Mills, Limited, Auckland.

  3. The provisions of the Factories Act, 1921-22, and of the Northern Industrial District Rubber Workers' award dated the 14th day of June, 1943, are modified to enable the said company to employ part-time female workers in the manufacture of tennis-balls at an hourly rate of wages calculated on the basis of one-fortieth of the weekly rates prescribed by the said award.

  4. This Order shall come into effect on the day of the date hereof.

Dated at Wellington, this 4th day of October, 1943.

The Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and its Amendments.-Fixing the Closing-hours of Fruitiers' Shops within the Borough of Hastings

WHEREAS a requisition in writing signed by a majority of the occupiers of all fruiterers' shops within the Borough of Hastings has been forwarded to the Minister of Labour desiring that all such shops in the said borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 6.30 p.m., and on Fridays at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions :-

(1) On the working-day immediately preceding Good Friday the closing-hour shall be 10 p.m.; and

(2) During the weeks in which Christmas Day and New Year's Day occur there shall be no fixed closing-hour :
