Notice calling up Reservists for Service with the Armed Forces.
National Service Department,
Wellington, 18th February, 1943.
IT is hereby notified for general information that, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by Regulation 44 of the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940, I have, on the 18th day of February, 1943, issued to—
George John Walter Peters, Farmer, Hoe-o-Tainui, via Ohinewai, Registration No. 636265,
Keith Robert White, Share-milker, Ngatea, Registration No. 636239,
Laurence Bernard Karl, Labourer, Campbell’s Road, Opiki, Shannon, Registration No. 638099,
Frederick Thomas Neame, Farm Labourer, Ashlea Road, Tokomaru, Registration No. 639564,
William Robert Caves, Dairy-farmer, Kakaramea, Registration No. 636865, and
Norman Oliver Russ, Farmer, Motupiko, Nelson, Registration No. 637338,
notices calling them up for service with the Armed Forces, such persons having been severally convicted for that, being reservists belonging to a division of the Reserve the enrolment of which has been proclaimed, they did fail to make application in writing for enrolment in that class of the Reserve as required by Regulation 43 (l) of the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940.

The Linseed Oil Control Notice 1943.
PURSUANT to the Factory Emergency Regulations 1939, I, George Augustus Pascoe, Factory Controller, hereby direct and give notice as follows :—

This notice may be cited as the Linseed Oil Control Notice 1943.

This notice shall come into force on the day next following the date of publication hereof in the Gazette.

In this notice, unless the context otherwise requires, “ linseed oil ” includes all kinds and grades of linseed oil.

Within seven days of the importation of any linseed oil the importer thereof shall furnish in writing to the Factory Controller particulars of the importation.

No person who imports any linseed oil while this notice is in force shall use, sell, supply, or otherwise dispose of any of the linseed oil without the prior written approval of the Factory Controller.

Every person who on the last day of February, 1943, or on the last day of any of the months of May, August, November, or February thereafter following, is the owner of more than 20 gallons of linseed oil shall furnish particulars thereof in writing to the Factory Controller within fifteen days thereafter.

The Paint Control Notice 1943.
PURSUANT to the Factory Emergency Regulations 1939, I, George Augustus Pascoe, Factory Controller, hereby direct and give notice as follows :—

This notice may be cited as the Paint Control Notice 1943.

This notice shall come into force on the day next following the date of publication hereof in the Gazette.

In this notice, unless the context otherwise requires, “ paint ” includes lacquers, enamels and varnishes, and white lead in oil.

(I) After the coming into force of this notice, no person to whom this clause applies shall manufacture during any period of three months more than one-eighth of the quantity, by volume, of paint manufactured by him during the year 1941 : Provided that for the purposes of this clause no account shall be taken of paint manufactured in pursuance of an order issued by, or a contract with, the Defence Purchase Officer, the Building Controller, the Public Works Department, or any other Government Department and clearly shown as being for an Armed Service or for some other war purpose.
(2) This clause shall apply to every occupier of a factory and to every person who in the period of three months ending on the date of the coming into force of this notice has used materials specified in the Schedule to this notice of a total weight exceeding 5 cwt.
- Except with the prior consent in writing of the Factory Controller, no person shall use any of the following materials in the manufacture of paint or for any other purpose whatsoever :—
Acetone. Butyl acetate. Cellosolve acetate. Methyl ethyl ketone. Phthalic anhydride.
Butyl acetate. Ethyl acetate. Chromium oxide. Zinc oxide.

Within seven days of the importation of any materials specified in the Schedule to this notice the importer thereof shall furnish in writing to the Factory Controller particulars of the importation.

Every person who, on the last day of February, 1943, or on the last day of any of the months of May, August, November, or February thereafter, is the owner of any of the materials specified in the Schedule to this notice shall, if the total weight of those materials exceeds 5 cwt., furnish in writing to the Factory Controller stock returns showing the quantity of each of the materials so owned.
The stock returns shall be furnished within fifteen days, shall specify the quantity of each material in the units of measurement indicated in the Schedule, and shall be signed by the person making the return.

Every person who manufactures paint shall, not later than the 15th day of each month, furnish in writing to the Factory Controller a return showing the sales of paint by him during the month immediately preceding the month in which the return is made. The first such return shall be furnished not later than the 15th day of April, 1943.

Every other person who on the lst day of any month is the owner of not less than 5 cwt. of white lead, whether dry or in oil, or who in any month sells not less than 5 cwt. of white lead, shall not later than the 15th day of the following month furnish in writing to the Factory Controller a return showing the sales of white lead by him during the month immediately preceding the month in which the return is made.

Notice to Persons affected by an Application for a License under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936.
Taking of Fish for Sale.
AN application has been received from A. J. Black, 39 Sunbury Street, Dunedin, for a variation in the conditions of his existing license to enable him to operate a new 52 ft. 35 h.p. Diesel-engined fishing-vessel, “ Sea Rover ” (being constructed), using trawl-nets, long lines, hand-lines, set-nets, drag-nets, and crayfish-pots, catches to be landed at Dunedin.
Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decision of the Bureau of Industry on this application, and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish them in writing not later than 4th March, 1943.
