Right-of-way in favour of Charles Gray over Railway Land assented to.
In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1928, and the Government Railways Act, 1926, and in the matter of a grant of a right-of-way to Charles Gray, of Pukerua Bay, Farmer, as part compensation for land taken for railway purposes.
Whereas by Proclamations dated the 14th day of February, 1938, the 5th day of June, 1940, the 20th day of December, 1940, and the 13th day of May, 1941, published respectively in the New Zealand Gazette of 17th February, 1938, at page 271, the 13th June, 1940, at page 1429, the 9th January, 1941, at page 1, and the 22nd May, 1941, at page 1358, and respectively registered in the office of the District Land Registrar at Wellington under numbers 2653, 2934, 3035, and 3101, certain land comprising 4 acres 3 roods 38 perches, situated in Blocks V and VI, Paekakariki Survey District, being part of Waimapihi Block and part of Pukerua 3c 1A and parts of Subdivisions 11, 12, 13, 15, and 16, Wairaka Block, and being part of the land in Certificates of Title, Volume 233, folio 53, Volume 461, folio 36, and Volume 439, folio 55, was taken by His Majesty the King for the purposes of the Wellington–Foxton Railway:
And whereas Charles Gray, of Pukerua Bay, Farmer, is the person entitled to the compensation payable for or in respect of the said land:
And whereas the Minister of Railways has agreed to grant to the said Charles Gray a right-of-way over portions of the railway land in Subdivision 3c 1D, Pukerua Block, Block V, Paekakariki Survey District, Hutt County, being all the land comprised and described in Certificate of Title, Volume 493, folio 58, as part satisfaction and mitigation of the compensation payable as aforesaid:
Now, therefore, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Railways, do hereby give notice, in pursuance of the provisions of section 97 of the Public Works Act, 1928, that a Memorandum of Agreement dated the 13th day of February, 1943, agreeing to grant such right-of-way to the said Charles Gray, his heirs, executors, administrators, assigns, and successors was this day assented to by me.

The Auckland Milk Pasteurizing and Distributing Depot Employees' Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1943.
In pursuance of the Labour Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Labour doth hereby order as follows:
- This Order may be cited as the Auckland Milk Pasteurizing and Distributing Depot Employees’ Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1943.
- This Order applies to Stonex Bros., Ltd., of Auckland, and to female workers employed by that company on work which is subject to New Zealand (except Marlborough and Wellington (Twenty-mile Radius)) Milk Pasteurizing and Bottling Factories’ Employees’ award, dated the 31st day of March, 1941, and recorded in 41 Book of Awards 200.
- The provisions of the Factories Act, 1921–22, and its amendments, shall be and are hereby suspended in so far as they operate to prevent or restrict the employment of the workers mentioned in clause 2 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. on ordinary working-days, Sundays, holidays, and half-holidays, subject to the following conditions, namely:
(1) The employment of the said workers shall be in accordance with the provisions of the above-mentioned award;
(2) Where female workers are employed after dark the employer shall, if public transport is not available, provide at his own expense a suitable conveyance for the transport of such workers;
(3) The employer shall keep a copy of this Order posted up in the changing-room provided for the female workers. - This Order shall come into effect on the day of the date hereof, and shall remain in force until the 30th day of April, 1943.

Notes.
(1) Section 44 of the Factories Act, 1921–22, provides, inter alia, that sufficient privy accommodation shall be provided for all persons employed in the factory, and where members of both sexes are employed, not being members of the same family, the accommodation shall be entirely separate for each sex, so as to ensure privacy.
(2) Clause 12 of the award provides that accommodation to the satisfaction of the Inspector of Factories shall be provided for the workers to change and dry their clothes and have their meals.
The Overtime and Holidays Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941, Variation No. 23.
In pursuance of the Labour Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Labour doth hereby order as follows:
- This Order may be cited as the Overtime and Holidays Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941, Variation No. 23.
- This Order shall be read together with and deemed part of the Overtime and Holidays Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Order”).
- The principal Order shall be and is hereby varied as follows, namely:
The provisions of the principal Order shall not apply to the shift-workers coming within the scope of the Wellington Industrial District Chemical-manure and Acid Workers’ award dated the 11th day of June, 1941, and recorded in 41 Book of Awards 626. - This Order shall be deemed to have come into force on the 12th day of January, 1943.

The Oil Fuel Retail Hours Emergency Regulations 1942.—Authorizing closing at 8 p.m. on Fridays of Establishments of Retail Licensees in Borough of Lawrence.
Pursuant to Regulation 2 : 1 of the Oil Fuel Retail Hours Emergency Regulations 1942, the Minister of Labour doth hereby authorize the closing of the establishments of the retail licensees in the Borough of Lawrence at 8 o'clock in the evening of Friday in each week, instead of 5.30 o'clock in the afternoon.

Appointing Wednesday as the Statutory Closing-day in the New Brighton Area of the City of Christchurch.
Whereas the Mayor of the City of Christchurch, pursuant to the provisions of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, as amended by section 73 of the Statutes Amendment Act, 1941, has duly notified me that, in respect of the New Brighton area of the City of Christchurch as defined by the said section 73, the Christchurch City Council has decided upon Wednesday as the statutory closing-day for shops in such area:
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by the said Act and amendment, I do hereby appoint Wednesday as the statutory closing-day for shops in the said area on and from the 1st day of March, 1943.
