Notice calling up Reservists for Service with the Armed Forces.

National Service Department,
Wellington, 4th February, 1943.

IT is hereby notified for general information that, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by Regulation 44 of the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940, I have, on the 4th February, 1943, issued to—

George Henry Eric Carter, Gardener, 23 Sutherland Road, Point Chevalier, Auckland, Registration No. 638839, and George Barkla, Dairy-proprietor, 55 Vogel Street, Hawera, Registration No. 636976,

notices calling them up for service with the Armed Forces, such persons having been severally convicted for that, being reservists belonging to a division of the Reserve the enrolment of which has been proclaimed, they did fail to make application in writing for enrolment in that class of the Reserve as required by Regulation (43) (1) of the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940.

The Clothing Rationing Coupon Notice No. 6.

Pursuant to the Rationing Emergency Regulations 1942, I, James Ewing Thomas, Rationing Controller, hereby give notice as follows:—

  1. This notice may be cited as the Clothing Rationing Coupon Notice No. 6.*

  2. The appropriate number of coupons in relation to the following goods rationed under the Clothing Rationing Order 1942 shall be in accordance with the following Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

WOMEN’S FULL-LENGTH HOSIERY.

Fully fashioned, of silk or art silk or any mixture thereof 1 coupon (“X” No. 13).

Fully fashioned, of lisle, cashmere, or silk and wool 2 coupons (“M” or “O”).

Circular or mock-fashioned .. 1 coupon (“M” or “O”).

Dated at Wellington, this 1st day of February, 1943.

Notice to Persons affected by an Application for a License under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936.

Fish Canning.

AN application has been received from Pilchard Preserving Co., Ltd., Wellington, for a fish-canner’s license to enable them to establish and operate a factory, for the canning of fish for sale, at 75–77 Dixon Street, Wellington.

Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decision of the Bureau of Industry on this application, and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish them in writing not later than the 14th February, 1943.

NOTE.—This application is in substitution and cancellation of an application previously made by Fishermen’s Co-operative, Ltd., for a fish-canner’s license in respect of premises at the same address.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICE.

Milling-timber for Sale by Public Tender.

State Forest Service,
Invercargill, 29th January, 1943.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the purchase of the undermentioned milling-timber will close at the office of the State Forest Service, Invercargill, at noon on Friday, the 26th day of February, 1943.


SCHEDULE.

SOUTHLAND CONSERVANCY.—OTAGO AND SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICTS.

ALL the milling-timber on that piece of land containing 226 acres (known as Sawmill Area No. 151), situated in Block XI, Mokoreta Survey District, and Blocks IV and X, Rimu Survey District (State Forests Nos. 37 and 47), about ten miles from Tahakopa Railway-station.

The total estimated quantity of timber in cubic feet is 218,010, or in board feet 1,433,000, made up as follows:—

Upset price: £1,470.

Time for removal: Two years.

Terms of Payment.

A marked cheque for £250, together with £1 1s. license fee, must accompany the tender, and the balance be paid in twelve equal monthly instalments, the first falling due three months after the date of sale and the others at monthly intervals thereafter.

Terms and Conditions.

  1. All instalment-payments shall be secured by “on demand” promissory notes made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of State Forests, and interest at the rate of 1 per cent. per annum in excess of current bank overdraft rates will be charged on all notes overdue from the date of maturity to the date of payment.

  2. The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold in accordance with the provisions of the Forests Act, 1921–22, the regulations in force thereunder, and these conditions.

  3. The aforementioned qualities, quantities, and kinds as to the said timber shall be taken as sufficiently accurate for the purposes of this sale, and no contract for the purchase shall be voidable, nor shall the successful purchaser be entitled to any abatement in price by reason of the said timber being of less quantity, quality, or kind as stated herein or in any advertisement having reference to the said timber.

  4. A return giving the number of logs cut of each species and their contents must be made quarterly by the licensee on the last days of March, June, September, and December, respectively, in each year. A return must also be made on the same dates showing the output of sawn timber of each species. These returns may be ascertained and verified by inspection of the books of the mill, or by such other means as the Conservator may require, and for this purpose the accounts and books shall be open to the inspection of the Conservator, a Forest Ranger, or other duly authorized officer.

  5. The attention of all tenderers is drawn to the fact that the local controlling body may require the successful tenderer to pay any claims or charges which may be made by that body for the maintenance of the road over which the timber may be transported, and before a sawmill license is issued a letter indicating that satisfactory arrangements have been made in this connection must be produced to the undersigned.

  6. Intending tenderers are expected to visit the locality and to satisfy themselves in every particular on all matters relative to the sale.

  7. Each tenderer must state the total price that he is prepared to pay for the timber. The highest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted, and the timber described is submitted for sale subject to the final acceptance of the tender by the Commissioner of State Forests.
