Varying the Determinations in respect of Portion (£26,100) of the Wellington City Council’s Loan of £200,000.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 20th day of January, 1943.
Present:
THE RIGHT HON. P. FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by Order in Council made on the eighteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-seven, and subject to the determinations as to borrowing and repayment therein set out, consent was given to the raising by the Wellington City Council (hereinafter called “the said local authority”) of the sum of two hundred thousand pounds (£200,000) by a loan to be known as “Sewerage Loan, 1937”:
And whereas by Order in Council made on the fourth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and forty, the period within which the amount then unraised, amounting to twenty-six thousand one hundred pounds (£26,100) (hereinafter called “the said sum”), might be borrowed was extended to six (6) years from the date of the Order in Council made on the eighteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-seven:
And whereas the said sum has still not yet been raised, and it is expedient to vary the determinations aforesaid in respect of the said sum by again extending the period within which the said sum may be raised:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section eleven of the Local Government Loans Board Act, 1926, as set out in section twenty-nine of the Finance Act, 1932 (No. 2), and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby again vary the determinations in respect of the said sum by prescribing that in lieu of a term of six (6) years, as specified in clause two of the Order in Council made on the fourth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and forty, no moneys shall be borrowed under the consent contained in the Order in Council made on the eighteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-seven, after the expiration of eight (8) years from the date thereof.

Authorizing the Acquisition of a Leasehold Interest in Land notwithstanding the Provisions as to Limitation of Area.

PURSUANT to section two hundred and forty-six of the Native Land Act, 1931, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby authorize the disposition to, and the acquisition by, the Kauri Timber Company, Limited, of a leasehold interest in the land described in the Schedule hereto, notwithstanding the provisions of Part XII of the said Act.

THE RIGHT HON. P. FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
PURSUANT to section five of the Native Purposes Act, 1937, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby set apart and reserve the Native freehold land described in the Schedule hereto as a Native reservation for the common use of the Natives from time to time residing at the Kenana Settlement as a meeting-place.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Mangonui County, North Auckland Land District, situated in Block X, Mangonui Survey District, containing by admeasurement 5 acres, more or less; and being the land (now called or known as Kenana Marae) comprised in an order made by the Native Land Court on the 2nd day of December, 1941, pursuant to section eight of the Native Purposes Act, 1941.

PURSUANT to section fifty-one of the Native Purposes Act, 1931, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby make the following regulations with respect to the Arawa District Trust Board.
REGULATIONS.
PRELIMINARY.

These regulations may be cited as the Arawa District Trust Board Regulations 1941, Amendment No. 2.

These regulations shall be read together with and form part of the Arawa District Trust Board Regulations 1941 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal regulations”).

These regulations shall come into force on the day of the making thereof.
COMMITTEES.
-
From its members the Board may from time to time appoint committees for the regulation and management of or for inquiring into and reporting upon such matters as it thinks fit, and may fix and alter the quorum, and appoint and remove the chairman of any such committee, and may discharge any such committee.

(1) Every such committee may meet at such times and places as it thinks fit and may adjourn any meeting, and in the absence of the chairman may appoint some member present to be chairman of the meeting.
(2) No business shall be transacted at any meeting of a committee unless a quorum is present.
(3) All questions coming before a committee at any meeting shall be decided by a majority of the votes of the members present thereat, and, in the case of an equality of votes, the chairman shall have a casting vote.
TRAVELLING ALLOWANCES AND EXPENSES.
- Out of the Board’s funds there may be paid or refunded to any member in respect of his attendance at any meeting of a committee, or in respect of his performance of any business or work authorized by the Board or a committee to be done or performed, the same costs and expenses as he would be entitled to be paid or have refunded, in accordance with the provisions of Regulation 38 of the principal regulations, for his attendance at a meeting of the Board.

Polling-places for the Christchurch East Electoral District appointed.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Electoral Act, 1927, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby abolish all existing polling-places, and do hereby appoint the places mentioned in the Schedule hereto to be the polling-places in the said Electoral District of Christchurch East.
