Industrial Man-power Emergency Regulations 1942.--Revocation of Declaration of Essential Industry No. 103

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by Regulation 11 of the Industrial Man-power Emergency Regulations 1942, the Minister of Industrial Man-power doth hereby revoke the Declaration of Essential Industry No. 103 as published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 74 of the 6th August, 1942.

Form of Standard Film-hiring Contract approved by the Minister under the Cinematograph Films Amendment Act, 1934, amended

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 10 of the Cinematograph Films Amendment Act, 1934, I hereby approve of the amendment of the standard form of film-hiring contract by the addition to clause 9 thereof of the following subclause:

“9. (f) The exhibitor also agrees that he will punctually pay to the Film Insurance Board referred to in clause 15 hereof all contributions or levies required of or made upon him by the said Board in respect of the fund known as ‘the Exhibitors’ Despatch Claims Fund,’ which has been established by an agreement in writing dated the 27th day of September, 1943, between the two associations named in the said clause 15, for the purpose of providing for payment of claims of the nature specified in this present paragraph within the limits and subject to the conditions set out in such agreement.”

The Sales of Pork Restriction Order 1943, Amendment No. 3

PURSUANT to the Foodstuffs Emergency Regulations 1939, the Food Controller hereby orders and directs as follows:--

  1. This Order may be cited as the Sales of Pork Restriction Order 1943, Amendment No. 3, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Sales of Pork Restriction Order 1943* (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Order”).

  2. Clause 3 of the principal Order is hereby amended by omitting the words “30th day of November, 1943,” and substituting the words “31st day of March, 1944.”

The Shipping Control Radio Equipment Order 1942, Amendment No. 1

PURSUANT to the Shipping Control Emergency Regulations 1939,* the Naval Board of New Zealand hereby gives notification as follows:--

  1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Shipping Control Radio Equipment Order 1942, Amendment No. 1, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Shipping Control Radio Equipment Order 1942† (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Order”).

(2) This Order shall take effect on the day following the date of publication thereof in the Gazette.

  1. Clause 3 of the principal Order is hereby amended by adding the following definition:--

“(c) ‘Home-trade ship’ has the same meaning as in the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908†.”

  1. Clause 4 of the principal Order is hereby amended by inserting at the beginning of the clause the words “Except where otherwise specially provided.”

  2. Clause 6 of the principal Order is hereby amended by inserting, after the words “Every such ship”, the words “other than a home-trade ship”, and also by omitting the words “A spare length of aerial wire shall be carried on board for use in case the main and emergency aerials are destroyed or otherwise rendered useless”.

  3. Clause 6 of the principal Order is hereby further amended by adding the following as subclause (2) thereof:--

“(2) In the case of every ship, whether a home-trade ship or not, a spare length of aerial wire shall be carried on board for use in case the main emergency aerials are destroyed or otherwise rendered useless.”

  1. Clause 7 of the principal order is hereby amended by inserting, after the words “On every ship”, the words “other than a home-trade ship”.

  2. The principal Order is hereby amended by inserting, after clause 7, the following new clause:--

“7A. On every home-trade ship there shall be provided and maintained radio-receiving apparatus as herein specified:--

“(i) A wireless receiver capable of receiving waves of types A1, A2, and B on frequencies from 300 kilocycles to 900 kilocycles per second;

“(ii) Sufficient batteries to operate the receiver;

“(iii) Adequate mechanism and equipment to recharge the batteries while maintaining continuous reception on the receiver.”

  1. Clause 14 of the principal Order is hereby amended by adding the following additional proviso:--

“Provided also that nothing in this clause shall apply to any home-trade ship.”

The Industrial Sewing-machine and Steam Clothing Press Control Notice 1943

PURSUANT to the Factory Emergency Regulations 1939, I, George Augustus Pascoe, Factory Controller, hereby direct and give notice as follows:--

  1. This notice may be cited as the Industrial Sewing-machine and Steam Clothing Press Control Notice 1943.

  2. This notice shall come into force on the day next following the date of publication thereof in the Gazette.

  3. Subject to the provisions of clause 4 hereof no person shall sell, hire, or otherwise dispose of any industrial sewing-machine or steam clothing press (whether new or used) without the prior consent in writing of the Factory Controller.

  4. Nothing in clause 3 hereof shall apply to the sale, transfer, or other disposal of any industrial sewing-machine or steam clothing press to any of the following persons:--

  2. Within seven days after the importation of any industrial sewing-machine or steam clothing press, the importer thereof shall furnish in writing to the Factory Controller full particulars of the importation, including the serial numbers of the machines.
