At the Government House at Wellington, this 1st day of December, 1943

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred by the Public Works Act, 1928, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby consent to the additional land described in the Schedule hereto being taken for a post-office.

SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land permitted to be taken: 30·8 perches.

Being Tikitiki C 1 Block.

Situated in Block VI, Waiapu Survey District (Gisborne R.D.). (S.O. 4235.)

In the Gisborne Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 115452, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured orange.

Constituting the Otaio Rabbit District.—(Notice No. Ag. 4056)

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington, this 24th day of November, 1943

Present:

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council

WHEREAS by section thirty of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928, it is enacted that the Governor-General may, by Order in Council, on petition in that behalf signed by a majority of the persons qualified to be enrolled on the ratepayers' list for any proposed district, constitute and declare any area of land not less than one thousand acres a rabbit district under and for the purposes of Part II of the said Act :

And whereas, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section thirty of the said Act, a petition has been received praying that the area of land described in the Schedule hereto be constituted and declared a rabbit district under and for the purposes of Part II of the said Act :

And whereas the said petition is signed by a majority of the persons in the said area of land qualified to be enrolled on the ratepayers' list for the said proposed district, and it is deemed expedient to give effect to the prayer of the petitioners accordingly :

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the said Act, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby constitute by the specific name of the “Otaio Rabbit District” and declare that area of land defined in the Schedule hereto to be a rabbit district under and for the purpose of Part II of the said Act; and doth hereby further declare that the basis on which the Board to be established for the said district shall first levy its general rate shall be on the basis of the acreage of the rateable property in the said district.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE OTAIO RABBIT DISTRICT

ALL that area in the County of Waimate, in the Canterbury Land District, containing 51,600 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the sea-coast in line with the centre of a public road running through Rural Section 16105 south of the mouth of the Makikihi River, being a point on the present eastern boundary of the County of Waimate; thence proceeding westerly by a right line to and along the said public road to its junction with the Main South Road; thence southerly along that road to its junction with the Teschemaker Valley Road; thence north-westerly generally along that road to its junction with a public road at the north-western corner of Rural Section 33752, Block XIV, Otaio Survey District; thence north-easterly along that road to its junction with the Sod Wall Road; thence north-westerly generally along that road to its junction with a public road opposite the south-eastern corner of Rural Section 18102, Block XIII, Otaio Survey District; thence south-westerly along that road to the southernmost corner of Rural Section 14141; thence north-westerly generally along the south-western and north-western boundaries of Rural Sections 14141 and 29713, the south-western boundary of Rural Sections 24708 and 22690, to a road; thence north-westerly along that road to the south-western boundary of Rural Section 33151; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundaries of Rural Sections 33151 and 35013 to a road; thence along that road to and along the south-western and north-western boundary of Rural Section 24706 and the south-western boundary of Rural Section 28855 and its production to a point on the right bank of the Otaio River; thence north-easterly along the said right bank of the Otaio River to a public road on the northern boundary of Rural Section 35563, Block XII, Nimrod Survey District; thence westerly and northerly along the said public road to its junction with the Main Back Road at the south-eastern corner of Rural Section 31932; thence north-westerly along that road to the north-western boundary of Section 1, Pareora No. 2 Settlement; thence north-easterly and south-easterly along the north-western and north-eastern boundary of the said Section 1' Pareora No. 2 Settlement, to Anderson's Road; thence easterly generally along that road to its junction with the Pleasant Valley Road; thence along that road to its junction with a public road at the north-eastern corner of Section 25, Pareora No. 2 Settlement; thence southerly along that road to its junction with a public road at the north-western corner of Section 28, Pareora No. 2 Settlement; thence easterly along that road to its junction with a public road at the western boundary of Section 5, Pareora No. 1 Settlement; thence southerly along that road to its junction with a public road at the south-western corner of Section 21, Pareora No. 1 Settlement; thence north-easterly along that road to its junction with the Main South Road at the south-eastern corner of Section 29, Pareora No. 1 Settlement; thence southerly along that road to its junction with a road at the south-western corner of Lot 1, Deposited Plan No. 3774; thence easterly along that road and the production of its centre-line to a point on the sea-coast, being a point on the present eastern boundary of the County of Waimate; thence southerly generally along that boundary to the point of commencement.

ALL that area in the County of Amuri, in the Canterbury Land District, containing 147,000 acres, more or less, and bounded by a line commencing at a point on the intersection of the left bank of the Waiau River with the western boundary of Section 14, Annan Settlement, Block XIV, Waiau Survey District; thence proceeding in a westerly and northerly direction along the said left bank of the Waiau River to its junction with the Hanmer River; thence easterly along the left bank of the Hanmer River aforesaid to its intersection with the fence-line, the same being the southern boundary of Run No. 14, Square 81 (Hoosack Run); thence easterly along that boundary to the Lottery River; thence northerly along the right bank of the said Lottery River and the western boundary of Section 126, Square 80, to its north-western corner; thence easterly along the northern boundary of the said Section 126, Square 80, the northern boundary of Sections 1 and 21, Square 80 (the same being the existing land district boundary between Canterbury and Marlborough), to the right bank of the Towy River; thence easterly generally along the said right bank of that river to the right bank of the Conway River; thence south-easterly along the right bank of the Conway River aforesaid to its junction with the right bank of the Gelt River in Block I, Hawkwood Survey District; thence south-westerly along the said right bank of that river to the easternmost corner of Lot 3, Deposited Plan No. 2884; thence south-westerly generally along the south-eastern boundary of the said Lot 3, Deposited Plan No. 2884, the north-western boundary of Lot 2, Deposited Plan No. 2884, and the south-eastern boundary of Lot 1, Deposited Plan No. 2884, to the westernmost corner of the last-mentioned lot; thence across and easterly along the left bank of the Gelt River to the easternmost corner of Section 16, Square 80, Block IV, Waiau Survey District; thence north-westerly and westerly along the north-eastern and northern boundaries of that section; thence westerly along the northern boundary of Section 15, Square 80, to its north-western corner; thence north-westerly along the fence-line bisecting the southern portion of Section (part) 48, Square 80 (the same being the northern boundary of the Mendip Hills Estate), to and across a road to the easternmost corner of Section 4, Annan Settlement; thence south-westerly generally along the eastern and southern boundaries of that section, the eastern boundaries of Sections 6, 7, 8, and 9, Annan Settlement, to the northern boundary of Section 14, Annan Settlement; thence westerly and southerly generally along the northern and western boundaries of that section to a point on the left bank of the Waiau River, the point of commencement.
