Appointments in the Public Service.

Joseph Patrick McMahon-Box to be Resident Commissioner of Niue for the purposes of section 10 of the Cook Islands Act, 1915; a Judge of the High Court of the Cook Islands for the purposes of section 103 of the Cook Islands Act, 1915; Collector of Customs and Postmaster of Niue for the purposes of section 13 of the Cook Islands Act, 1915, on and from the 13th day of April, 1942.
Hilda Ellen Elizabeth Dane (Mrs.) to be Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Paparore, on and from the 27th day of July, 1942.

Revoking Notice as to Cordage, Rope, Twine, and Thread.
NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939, the Minister of Supply and Munitions doth hereby revoke:
(a) The notice under those regulations as to Cordage, Rope, Twine, and Thread dated the 31st day of July, 1940, and published in the Gazette om that date at page 1777; and
(b) The notice dated the 17th day of September, 1940, and published in the Gazette on the 19th day of the same month at page 2367, amending the said notice as to Cordage, Rope, Twine, and Thread.

Exemption Order under the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940.
PURSUANT to the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of Regulation 7 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, so far as they relate to drivers of heavy trade-motors, shall not apply to Eric Chamberlain, of Wellington.

Social Security Act, 1938.—Massage Benefits.

The Fencing-wire Control Order 1942.—(Notice No. Ag. 3966.)
PURSUANT to the Primary Industries Emergency Regulations 1939, the Minister of Agriculture hereby makes the following Order.
ORDER.
- This Order may be cited as the Fencing-wire Control Order 1942, and shall come into force on the day next following the date of publication hereof in the Gazette.
- In this Order, unless the context otherwise requires, “fencing-wire” means galvanized steel fencing-wire, gauges 8 and 9.
- No person (hereinafter referred to as “the owner”) who owns any fencing-wire or has any fencing-wire in his possession or control or on order by him shall sell, supply, or otherwise dispose of the fencing-wire, or any part thereof, to any person acquiring the same for his own use and not for resale if the quantity to be sold, supplied, or disposed of exceeds 5 cwt., unless—
(a) The owner first receives an application duly completed by that other person on a form approved by the Primary Industries Controller and provided for the purpose by the owner ; and
(b) The application is approved by a person authorized by the Primary Industries Controller to approve such application ; and
(c) The owner forwards all the applications to such persons and at such times as may be directed by the Primary Industries Controller.

Waihi Drainage Area.—Notice of making and levying General Rates.
I JAMES GILLISPIE BARCLAY, acting for the Minister of Lands, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, do hereby make and levy on the unimproved value of all lands within the Pukuhina Subdivision of the Waihi Drainage Area constituted under the said Act the general rates described in the First Schedule hereto, and on the unimproved value of all lands included in the Central Subdivision the general rate described in the Second Schedule hereto, and on the unimproved value of all land in the Kaikokopu Subdivision the general rates described in the Third Schedule hereto, such respective rates being for the purpose of meeting maintenance-costs for the period lst April, 1942, to 3lst March, 1943.
The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on the 31st day of August, 1942, together with the amount of the special rates already made and levied, to the Collector of Rates, Room 45, First Floor, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland.
The rate-book will be open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, and a copy of the same will be available for inspection at the office of Mr. H. W. Earp, Clerk, Kaituna River Board, Te Puke, at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public business.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
PUKEHINA SUBDIVISION.
Class A.—On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, fivepence and seven one-hundredths of a penny (5·07d.) in the pound.
Class C.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class C, twopence and twenty-five one-hundredths of a penny (2·25d.) in the pound.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
CENTRAL SUBDIVISION.
Class A.—On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, fivepence and forty-five one-hundredths of a penny (5·45d.) in the pound.
THIRD SCHEDULE.
KAIKOKOPU SUBDIVISION.
Class A.—On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, sixpence and forty-six one-hundredths of a penny (6·46d.) in the pound.
