Minister's Decisions under Import Control Regulations 1938.

Customs Department, Wellington, 20th January, 1942.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Hon. the Minister of Customs has decided to modify the Schedule under
the Import Control Regulations 1938, published in July 1941, which provided for the issue of licenses on the following
basis:—

Items marked A: Allocations for imports from United Kingdom and Crown Colonies to the extent of 50 per cent.
of value of licenses granted for imports from those sources in 1940;
Items marked AA: Allocation for imports from United Kingdom and “Other British” countries to the extent of
60 per cent. of the value of licenses granted for imports from those sources in 1940;
Items marked B: Allocation for imports from all sources to the extent of 50 per cent. of the value of licenses granted
for imports from those sources in 1940;
Items marked BB: Allocation for imports from all sources to the extent of 100 per cent. of the value of licenses
granted for imports from those sources in 1940;
Items marked C: “Control” applications to be considered individually;
Items marked D: Items for which no allocation made.

NOTE.—In certain cases the allocations had regard to licenses issued for imports in 1941. These were indicated in the
original Schedule by an asterisk. In a few cases the allocations had regard to imports in 1938, and were set out in the original
Schedule accordingly.

The above-mentioned Schedule is now modified as set out in the Schedule below and licenses are authorized accordingly:—

SCHEDULE.

NOTE.—(a) Unless otherwise indicated, the allocations now provided for include all allocations already authorized in
respect of the Sixth Licensing Period for the items specified.
(b) Unless otherwise indicated, the additional allocations now provided for will be granted for the importation of goods
from the particular country in respect of which the original allocation was made.
(c) The references in the following Schedule to the years 1940 and 1941 relate to licenses issued for imports in those
years; the references to 1938 relate to imports in that year.

Ex 36 (4) Dried apricots and peaches C Substitute Group C. (Kind to be specified on applications.)
38 Fruit-pulp, partially preserved fruit, &c., unsweetened and n.e.i. D United Kingdom and Other British countries—25 per cent. from same source 1940.
Ex 39 Fruits preserved in juice or syrup—viz., apricots and peaches C Australia or British South Africa—additional licenses 40 per cent. from all sources 1938. Licenses may be issued for either apricots or peaches at the discretion of the importer.
Ex 39 Fruits preserved in juice or syrup—viz., pine-apples (other than Fijian canned pineapples) C United Kingdom and Other British countries—25 per cent. from same source 1940. Australia or British Malaya—additional licenses 50 per cent. from same source 1938.
Ex 41 Glucose C United States of America—50 per cent. all sources 1940.
43 Infants’ and invalids’ foods, &c. A 100 per cent. of 1940.
Ex 47 Macaroni and vermicelli D Australia—25 per cent. all British countries 1938.
Ex 52 (1) Almonds and nuts, all kinds, &c., n.e.i. (excluding peanuts) C British India, Netherlands East Indies, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Australia, and Palestine—100 per cent. all sources 1940. Licenses may be transferred to permit of importation from any of the above countries.
Ex 52 (1) Peanuts C Licenses may be transferred to permit importation from Tonga.
52 (3) Desiccated coconut, &c. C Any country—100 per cent. same source 1940.
52 (4) Walnuts, &c. C British India—100 per cent. all sources 1940.
53 Capers, caraway-seeds, caviare, &c. A 75 per cent. of 1940.
Ex 61 (1) Bovril D United Kingdom—50 per cent. that source 1938.
62 Rice, dressed or undressed, &c. B 150 per cent. of 1940. Licenses for importation from all sources may be transferred to Australia.
Ex 64 Salt (excluding salt in packages under 5 lb.) AA 100 per cent. of 1940.
Ex 65 (1) Cinnamon, cloves, ginger, mace, nutmeg, and pepper, unground B 100 per cent. of 1940.
65 (2) Spices, unground, n.e.i. B 100 per cent. of 1940.
Ex 67 Arrowroot AA 100 per cent. of 1940.
Ex 67 Confectioners’ moulding-starch; potato flour; rice flour A 100 per cent. of 1941.
Ex 67 Sago; tapioca A 100 per cent. of 1941. Licenses for importation from Canada may be transferred to Australia.
Ex 67 Maizea; cornflour C 100 per cent. of 1941.
84 (1–7) Spirits and spirituous mixtures AA 100 per cent. of 1941.
88 Spirits wholly denatured in New Zealand, &c. B 100 per cent. of 1940.
89 Alcohol, and denatured spirits, for use in museums, &c. BB Any country—value applied for.
90 (1) Wine, &c., sparkling, all kinds AA 100 per cent. of 1941.
90 (2) Wine, &c., other kinds B 100 per cent. of 1941.
91 Wine of any kind containing more than 40 per cent. of proof spirit B 100 per cent. of 1941.
