THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service :—

Sergeant Robert Joseph Foster Whiting

to be Clerk of the Magistrates’ Court at Pahiatua for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1928, and Maintenance Officer at the Magistrates’ Court at Pahiatua for the purposes of the Destitute Persons Amendment Act, 1926, on and from the 22nd day of June, 1942.

John Thomas Harraway

to be Registrar of Marriages for the District of Waiwera, and Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Waiwera, on and from the 22nd day of June, 1942.

Gerald Hamilton Ashford

to be Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Whangaparaoa, on and from the 1st day of July, 1942.

Olive Janet Moir Clark (Mrs.)

to be Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Tokata, on and from the 1st day of July, 1942.

Exemption Order under the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940.

PURSUANT to the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of Regulation 7 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, so far as they relate to drivers of heavy trade-motors, shall not apply to Gordon McKenzie, of Woodlands, and Walter Alexander McCaul, of Waitara.

Exemption Order under the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940.

PURSUANT to the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of Regulation 7 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, so far as they relate to drivers of heavy trade-motors, shall not apply to Patrick Stewart Revell, of Hastings.

Withdrawal of Dangerous Drugs Prohibition in respect of Registered Medical Practitioner.

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1927, and clause (11) of Regulation 7 of the Dangerous Drugs Regulations 1928, I, Arnold Henry Nordmeyer, Minister of Health, acting on the recommendation of the Medical Council, do hereby withdraw the prohibition dated the 31st day of March, 1941, and published in the Gazette on the 17th day of April, 1941, at page 981, whereby James Reid, registered medical practitioner, of 375 Manakau Road, Epsom, Auckland, was prohibited from issuing prescriptions for the dispensing of dangerous drugs.

The Overtime and Holidays Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941, Variation No. 2, Amendment No. 1.

IN pursuance of the Labour Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Labour doth hereby order as follows :—

  1. This Order may be cited as the Overtime and Holidays Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941, Variation No. 2, Amendment No. 1.

  2. This Order shall be read together with and deemed part of the Overtime and Holidays Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Order”).

  3. The Overtime and Holidays Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1941, Variation No. 2, is amended by revoking clause 4 thereof and substituting the following clause :—

“4. This Order shall be deemed to have come into effect (a) on the 17th day of December, 1941, in respect of the awards and industrial agreement numbered 1 to 6 inclusive in the above Schedule and of all those male workers bound by the award numbered 7 in the said Schedule who worked on any holidays between 17th December, 1941, and the 25th day of February, 1942, and who would have worked on such holidays if the principal Order had not been made, and (b) on the 25th day of February, 1942, in respect of the award numbered 8 in the said Schedule and of all the workers (other than those referred to in clause (a) hereof) bound by the award numbered 7 in the said Schedule.”

Excluding Land from the Kaipara Development Scheme.

PURSUANT to subsection (2) of section 4 of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1936, the Board of Native Affairs hereby revokes, so far as it affects the land described in the Schedule hereto, a certain notice dated the 9th day of June, 1930, and published in Gazette No. 45 of the 19th day of the same month at page 1983, whereby the provisions of subsection (3) of section 23 of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1929 (now Part I of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1936) were applied to, inter alia, the said land, and such land is hereby excluded from the Kaipara Development Scheme.

Notice calling up Reservists for Service with the Armed Forces.

National Service Department,
Wellington, 2nd July, 1942.

IT is hereby notified for general information that, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by Regulation 44 of the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940, I have this day issued to—

Douglas Polick Prince, Carpenter, 14 Clifton Terrace, Wellington, Registration No. 628338,
Thomas James Coulson, Sawmill Hand, care of Chief Post-office, Christchurch, Registration No. 628640, and
Thomas Andrew Lee, Farm Labourer, Mabel Bush, Invercargill, Registration No. 628638,

notices calling them up for service with the Armed Forces, such persons having been severally convicted for that, being reservists belonging to a division of the Reserve the enrolment of which has been proclaimed, they did fail to make application in writing for enrolment in that class of the Reserve as required by Regulation 43 (1) of the National Service Emergency Regulations 1940.
