Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the aforesaid powers
and authorities, doth hereby declare it is his intention to grant
in fee-simple the area of Crown land described in the First
Schedule hereto in exchange for the fee-simple of the land
described in the Second Schedule upon payment by the
owners thereof of the sum of money hereinbefore referred to
by way of equality of exchange.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
DESCRIPTION OF LAND AUTHORIZED TO BE EXCHANGED.
Canterbury Land District.
All that area containing by admeasurement 284 acres 3 roods
18 perches, more or less, and being part of Small Grazing-run
96 (part Rural Section 36739), situated in Block XV, Pukaki
Survey District, and bounded as follows : Towards the north
by Rural Section 33210 and the abutment of a road, 5386.3
links ; towards the east by Rural Section 33209, 3998.5
links; towards the south by other part of Small Grazing-
run 96 (part Rural Section 36739), 2743.5 links, 2013.3 links,
and 1501.5 links ; and towards the west by Rural Sections
34179 and 34241, 5362.5 links. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 8/8/195, deposited in Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
DESCRIPTION OF LAND TO BE OBTAINED IN EXCHANGE THEREFOR.
Canterbury Land District.
All that area containing by admeasurement 80 acres, more
or less, and being Rural Sections 32678, 33117, and 33120,
situated in Blocks XV and XVI, Pukaki Survey District, and
Blocks II and III, Gladstone Survey District, and bounded as
follows : Towards the north, east, south, and west by Rural
Section 36739, 4000 links, 2000 links, 4000 links, and 2000
links respectively. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 8/8/195A, deposited in Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 30th day of May, 1942.

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the
three-hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the
Peace Act, 1927, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify
and declare that the persons whose names are set out in the
Schedule hereto, being officers in the service of the Crown
holding the offices stated opposite their names respectively
in the said Schedule, are authorized to take and receive
statutory declarations under the three-hundred-and-first
section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and sixty of the
Land Act, 1924, it is enacted that it shall be
lawful for the Governor-General, whenever he deems it
expedient in the public interest, to grant in fee-simple any
area of Crown land which is subject to the provisions of the
Land Act, 1924, in exchange for the fee-simple of any other
land, and on any such exchange to pay or receive any sum by
way of equality of exchange :
And whereas in the opinion of the Governor-General it is
expedient to exchange the Crown land described in the First
Schedule hereto for the land described in the Second Schedule
hereto, and the owners of the land described in the Second
Schedule have agreed to such exchange, and have agreed to
pay to the Crown a sum of money by way of equality of
exchange :

Major-General Sir Bernard C. Freyberg, K.B.E., C.B.,
C.M.G., D.S.O., LL.D., is granted the temporary rank of
Lieutenant-General. Dated 1st March, 1942.
