Advertisement of Cancelling.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Deputy Registrar of Friendly Societies has, pursuant to section 70 of the Friendly Societies Act, 1909, by writing under his hand dated this 13th day of May, 1942, cancelled the registry of Pride of Valley True Blue Lodge, No. 1, of the Protestant Alliance Friendly Society of Australasia (Register No. 197/24), held at Dunedin, on the ground that the said branch has ceased to exist.

CHANGE OF NAME OF COMPANY.
NOTICE is hereby given that CHROMOS CHALK AND CRAYON COMPANY, LIMITED, has changed its name to CHROMOS LIMITED, and that the new name was this day entered on my Register of Companies in place of the former name.

WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL.
THE WELLINGTON CITY WORKS LOAN, 1941.
Resolution making Special Rate.
THE following resolution was duly passed at a meeting of the Wellington City Council held on the 13th day of May, 1942 :—
“ In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and its amendments, and of all other Acts, powers, and authorities enabling it in that behalf, the Wellington City Council hereby resolves as follows :—
“ That, for the purpose of providing the interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a special loan of eighty-four thousand pounds (£84,000), to be known as the Wellington City Works Loan, 1941, authorized to be raised by the Wellington City Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of carrying out works occasioned by storm damage, the Wellington City Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of seventy eight-hundredths of a penny (78/100d.) in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property within the whole of the City of Wellington ; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of ten years from the 1st day of July, 1942, or until the loan is fully paid off.”

APPLICATION FOR A WATER-RACE.
In the Warden’s Court held at Cromwell.
NOTICE is hereby given that application has been made to the Warden at Cromwell by H.M. the King for a water-race to divert six heads for mining and irrigation purposes, commencing in Luggate Creek about 4 chains above old abandoned race running east and west for one mile and terminating in a branch race.
And such application will be heard in the Warden’s Court at Cromwell on Thursday, 18th June, 1942, at 10.30 a.m.
Objections must be filed in the Registrar’s Office and notified to applicant at least three days before the time so appointed.

IN LIQUIDATION.
NOTICE is hereby given that at an extraordinary general meeting of the above-named company, duly convened and held on the 11th day of May, 1942, the following special resolutions were duly passed :—
“ 1. That the company be wound up voluntarily.”
“ 2. That JAMES EDWARD KNOWLING, of Auckland, be and is hereby appointed liquidator of the company.”

WAITAKI COUNTY COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
Highways Construction Supplementary Loan, 1941, £1,500.
THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Waitaki County Council resolves as follows :—
“ That, for the purposes of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of one thousand five hundred pounds (£1,500), authorized to be raised by the Waitaki County Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of completion of the work for which the Highways Construction Loan No. 2, 1938, was raised (reconstruction, metalling, and sealing of the Horse Gully to Kurow section of the Pukeuri-Kurow-Omarama Highway), the said Waitaki County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of two twenty-fifths of one penny (2/25d.) in the pound upon the rateable value, on the basis of the capital value of all rateable property, of the special-rating area comprising the County of Waitaki ; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of September in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of eight (8) years or until the loan is fully paid off. The said special rate of two twenty-fifths of one penny is in addition to the special rate of three-fortieths of one penny made and levied in respect of the original loan of fifteen thousand pounds.”
I hereby certify the above to be a true copy of a resolution passed by the Waitaki County Council on the 24th day of April, 1942.
