  1. If no tender is offered for the timber herein mentioned it will remain open for application for three months from the date of the closing of tenders.

The plan referred to above, the conditions which will be inserted in the license to be issued to the purchaser, and any further particulars required may be obtained on application to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Dunedin.

In addition to the timber offered above, the successful purchaser is invited to make an offer for—

(1) A plantation of small poplar, P. Laricio and P. Austriaca in the north-western portion of Section 4s, comprising approximately 10,000 ft. b.m. excepting there-out a half-chain strip on west side ;

(2) Five large redwoods (Sequoia gigantea) adjacent to the plantation on Section 21s ;

(3) A line of poplars adjacent to the homestead on Section 21s as indicated by the lessee.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Land in North Auckland Land District for Selection on Optional Tenure.

North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 17th March, 1942.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned property is open for selection on optional tenure under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 3 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 13th April, 1942.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Wednesday, 15th April, 1942, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands. Applicants are required to produce documentary evidence of their farming experience and financial position.

The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease and mortgage fees, and deposit in reduction of weighting for improvements.


SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Bay of Islands County.—Kawakawa Survey District.

SECTIONS 14 and part 13, Block VII: Area, 562 acres (approx.)* Capital value, £295. Deposit on deferred payments, £30: Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments (term: twenty years), £11 0s. 2d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £5 18s.

Weighted with £250 for improvements, comprising four-roomed shack, 110 acres rough feed, road boundary, boundary, and subdivisional fencing. This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £100, the balance may be secured by mortgage to the State Advances Corporation of New Zealand payable over a period of fifteen years by half-yearly instalments of £6 19s. 9d. principal and interest at 4½ per cent. reducible to 4¼ per cent. for prompt payment. Mortgage fees, £2 15s. 3d., payable by selector.

*Area is subject to alteration on completion of survey.

The property is situated on the Whangae-Oromahoe Road nine miles north of Kawakawa Post-office, School, and Railway-station, and eleven miles from Moerewa Saleyards. Undulating to steep and broken, poor quality clay land. Approximately 110 acres fronting road is workable and in very poor rough grazing, balance in poor surface-sown feed, scrub, and fern; several steep gullies containing practically unworkable totara timber. The fencing generally is poor, and the property is only partly ring-fenced. Watered by springs and streams in gullies. The area is not an economic holding, and is suitable only for grazing purposes by farmer holding land in locality.

NOTICE is hereby given that the license of the undermentioned land having been declared forfeit by resolution of the Westland Land Board, the said land has thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICE.

Milling-timber for Sale by Public Tender.

State Forest Service,
Nelson, 12th March, 1942.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the purchase of the undermentioned milling-timber will close at the office of the State Forest Service at Nelson at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, 31st March, 1942.


SCHEDULE.

NELSON CONSERVANCY.—NELSON LAND DISTRICT.

ALL the milling-timber on Sawmill Area 91 containing 242 acres, more or less, situated in Blocks XII and XVI, Maimai Survey District (part of Provisional State Forest 129), about four miles from Maimai Railway-station.

The total estimated quantity in cubic feet is 216,700, and in board feet 1,341,000, made up as follows:—

Terms of Payment.

A marked cheque for one-fifth of the amount of the tender must accompany the tender, and the balance be paid by sixteen equal monthly instalments, the first of which shall be paid on the 20th of the month following the date of sale, and the remainder at monthly intervals thereafter.

Terms and Conditions.

  1. All instalment-payments shall be secured by “on demand” promissory notes made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of State Forests, and interest at the rate of 1 per cent. per annum in excess of current bank overdraft rates will be charged on all notes overdue from the date of maturity to the date of payment.

  2. The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold in accordance with the provisions of the Forests Act, 1921–22, the regulations in force thereunder, and these conditions.

  3. The aforementioned quality, quantity, and kind as to the said timber shall be taken as sufficiently accurate for the purposes of this sale, and no contract for the purchase shall be voidable, nor shall the successful purchaser be entitled to any abatement in price, by reason of the said timber being of less quantity, quality, or kind as stated herein or in any advertisement having reference to the said timber.

  4. A return giving the number of logs cut of each species and their contents must be made quarterly by the licensee
