Land in North Auckland Land District for Selection on
Renewable Lease.
North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 3rd February, 1942.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned property
is open for selection on renewable lease under the
Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the
North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland,
up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Friday, 13th March, 1942.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the
North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland,
on Wednesday, 18th March, 1942, at 10 o'clock a.m., but
if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by
any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown
Lands.
Applicants are required to produce documentary evidence
of their farming experience and financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the
examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is
required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit
comprising the first half-year's rent, broken-period rent,
lease fee, and weighting for improvements.
SCHEDULE.
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Otamatea County.—Parish of Mangawai.
(Exempt from payment of rent for three years.)
ALLOTMENT 119: Area, 99 acres 3 roods 15 perches. Capital
value, £50; half-yearly rent, £1.
Exemption from payment of rent is conditional on permanent
improvements to the value of £10 being effected annually
during the concession period in addition to the usual improve-
ments required by the Land Act, 1924.
Weighted with £30 (payable in cash) for improvements,
comprising road and boundary fencing and shack.
Situated one mile from Hakaru Post-office, five miles from
Kaiwaka Railway-station, four miles from Mangawai School,
and fifteen miles from Albertland Dairy Factory. Access is
by good metalled road, five miles from Kaiwaka. The land
is hilly to undulating (all more or less ploughable), and is
covered with tea-tree and fern.

sections are open for selection on renewable lease
under the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements
Act, 1925; and applications will be received at the District
Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on
Monday, 9th March, 1942.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at
the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, on Wednesday,
11th March, 1942, at 10.30 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant
is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land
Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce documentary evidence
of their farming experience and financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of
the examination of applicants, and the successful applicants
are required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a
deposit comprising the first half-year's rent, broken-period
rent, lease fee, and deposit in reduction of weighting for
improvements.
SCHEDULE.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.—SETTLEMENT LAND.
Waitaki County.—Maruwenua Survey District.—Otekaike
Settlement.
Section 7A: Area, 181 acres 2 roods 12 perches. Capital
value, £1,380; half-yearly rent, £34 10s.
Weighted with £556 12s. 6d. for improvements, comprising
six-roomed dwelling, stable, cow-byrne, fowlhouses, yards,
well, and fencing. This sum is payable in cash or by a
cash deposit of £56 12s. 6d., and the balance (£300) payable
over a period of fifteen years with interest at 5 per cent.
per annum, the half-yearly instalments of combined interest
and principal being £23 17s. 11d.
Situated one mile and a half from the Otekaike Post-office,
School, and Railway-station. Access is by bitumen road
from Duntroon. Comprises some 65 acres of good flat land
and 116 acres hilly, some 40 acres being too steep to plough.
Soil is fair to good. Property is watered by creek and well
at homestead.
Section 48A: Area, 408 acres 2 roods 19 perches. Capital
value, £1,125; half-yearly rent, £28 2s. 6d.
Weighted with £1,327 17s. 6d. for improvements, com-
prising dwelling, five rooms, bathroom and scullery, men's
room, dairy, washhouse and coalhouse, and concrete yard,
cow-shed, garage, small shed, barn and shed, fowlhouse
and run, yards, garden, plantation, water-troughs, &c., and
fencing. This sum is payable in cash or by a cash deposit
of £127 17s. 6d., and the balance (£1,200) payable over a
period of thirty years with interest at 5 per cent. per annum,
the half-yearly instalments of combined interest and principal
being £38 16s.
Situated three miles from Duntroon Post-office and School
and adjacent to Waikaura Railway-station; access is by
good metalled road. The greater portion is steep hilly
ground, while the balance comprises steep faces and rough
gullies. Approximately half of the section is ploughable.
The soil is light and stony resting on gravel formation;
watered by creeks and springs. Clear of noxious weeds.
Section 52A: Area, 188 acres 0 roods 22 perches. Capital
value, £1,130; half-yearly rent, £28 5s.
Weighted with £1,328 for improvements, comprising
dwelling, six rooms, bathroom and scullery, outhouses,
fowlhouse, stable, barn, wool-shed and utility shed, yards,
plantation, windmills, &c., and fencing. This sum is payable
in cash or by a cash deposit of £128, and the balance (£1,200)
payable over a period of thirty years with interest at 5 per
cent. per annum, the half-yearly instalments of combined
interest and principal being £38 16s.
Situated two miles from Duntroon Post-office, School, and
Railway-station; access is by good metalled road. Some
65 acres are flat, balance fairly steep face. All ploughable
except about 20 acres broken ground. The soil is good,
resting on limestone formation. Clear of noxious weeds.
Special Condition.
The Crown reserves the right to take water-races through
any of these properties without compensation, and to lay
pipes in connection therewith.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICES.
Milling-timber for Sale by Public Tender.
State Forest Service,
Nelson, 3rd February, 1942.
NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the
purchase of the undermentioned milling-timber will
close at the office of the State Forest Service, Nelson, at
4 p.m. on Thursday, 19th February, 1942.
SCHEDULE.
NELSON CONSERVANCY.—NELSON LAND DISTRICT.
ALL the milling-timber specified on that area containing
164 acres, more or less, situated in Blocks X, Inangahua
Survey District (part of State Forest No. 130), about five
miles from Inangahua Junction.
The total estimated quantity in cubic feet is 183,700, and
in board feet 1,117,000, made up as under :—

Time for removal of timber: Two years.
Terms of Payment.
A marked cheque for one-seventh of the amount tendered,
plus £1 1s. license fee, must accompany the tender, and the
balance be paid by seventeen equal monthly instalments,
the first of which shall be paid on the 20th of the month
following the date of sale and the remainder at monthly
intervals thereafter.
Terms and Conditions.
- All instalment-payments shall be secured by “on
demand” promissory notes made and endorsed to the satis-
faction of the Commissioner of State Forests, and interest at
the rate of 1 per cent. per annum in excess of current bank
overdraft rates will be charged on all notes overdue from
the date of maturity to the date of payment. - The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold in
accordance with the provisions of the Forests Act, 1921–22,
the regulations in force thereunder, and these conditions. - The aforementioned quality, quantity, and kind as to
the said timber shall be taken as sufficiently accurate for
the purposes of this sale, and no contract for the purchase
shall be voidable, nor shall the successful purchaser be en-
titled to any abatement in price, by reason of the said timber
being of less quantity, quality, or kind as stated herein or in
any advertisement having reference to the said timber.
