Details: A white light flashing every 5 seconds—thus, flash 0·4 sec. eclipse 4·6 sec.—will be exhibited on the 1st February from a white steel tower in the above position. Elevation, 97 ft.; height of tower, 9 ft.; arc of visibility, from 232° through west to 083°.

I, THOMAS CAGNEY, Returning Officer for the election of a member of the Southland Land Board, do hereby notify, in accordance with the provisions of section 47 of the Land Act, 1924, and the regulations made thereunder, that the only person nominated to fill the vacancy occurring on the said Board was—

and I do hereby declare that the said James Clarke Paterson is duly elected a member of the Southland Land Board for a term of two years from the 2nd day of March, 1942.

Notice to Persons affected by an Application for a License under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936.
Manufacture for Sale of Footwear.
AN application has been received from W. S. Livingstone and Co., Ltd., 123 Hanson Street, Wellington, for an extension of its existing footwear-manufacturing license, so as to permit the manufacture of military footwear by the sewn and screwed processes, such extension to operate for the duration of the war and six months thereafter.
Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decision of the Bureau of Industry on this application, and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish them in writing not later than the 12th February, 1942.
