Alterations to the Scale of Charges upon the New Zealand Government Railways.

In pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under the Government Railways Act, 1926, and its amendments, and of all other powers enabling me in this behalf, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Railways, do hereby make the following alterations to the General Scale of Charges and to the Goods-Local Rates Scale of Charges made on the 13th day of April, 1939, and published in the Supplement dated the 19th day of April, 1939, to the New Zealand Gazette of the 13th day of April, 1939, in force on the New Zealand Government Railways open for traffic.

GENERAL SCALE OF CHARGES.

PASSENGERS.

  1. Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, and Members of the Boys' Brigade.

By omitting the above heading and substituting the following:

25. Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, &c.

By omitting paragraph 1 and substituting the following:

  1. Members of the following organizations, not exceeding sixteen years of age, in parties of not less than six in number, travelling in uniform to attend parades or instruction camps, will be issued second-class return tickets at one-half of the ordinary fare (Regulation 2), or one-half of the suburban fare (Regulation 40), or one-half of the local fares (Regulation 41 or Regulation 43), as the case may beโ€”minimum charge 10d.:โ€”

Boy Scout.
Boys' Brigade.
Girl Guide.
Girls' Life Brigade.
Navy League Sea Cadet.

Each application for tickets must be accompanied by a certificate in the following form:

I hereby certify that ....... members of the ....... organization are travelling in uniform from ......... to ......... to attend a parade [or instruction camp] at ......... on .........

......, Authorized Officer.

39. Suburban Weekly Twelve-trip Tickets.

Paragraph 5: By omitting the words "for use only between the stations specified thereon, and".

40. Suburban Fares.

Paragraph 9:

By omitting: *Only second-class tickets issuable.

By adding: *Second-class tickets only will be issuable for travel by suburban trains.

41. North Island Main Line and Branches.

Paragraph 2: By adding to the list of local fares:

Paragraph 1: By omitting from subparagraph (cc) the words "Otira Junction" and substituting the words "Otiaria Junction."

46. Excess Luggage.

Paragraph 13A: By omitting the words "Otira Junction" and substituting the words "Otiaria Junction."

55. Parcels Rates.

Paragraph 10: By adding after the words "wreaths, &c.," the words "or moss."

Paragraph 13:

By omitting: Flowers, cut, not made up into wreaths, &c., packed in baskets, hampers, or boxes.

By adding: Fresh cut flowers, foliage, or ferns, not made up into wreaths, &c., or moss, packed in baskets, hampers, or uncushable boxes.

67. Local Rates and Regulations.

By omitting from paragraphs 8 and 8A the word "Parnassus" wherever shown and substituting the word "Hundalee."
