Armistice Day, 1941.

Prime Minister's Office,
Wellington, 31st October, 1941.
CITIZENS and traffic control authorities throughout New
Zealand are requested to observe the practice adopted
in this Dominion on former similar occasions of two minutes'
silence from ll a.m., and the suspension of all vehicular
traffic during that period, on llth November next.
Where a service is held it is suggested that it should be
at the local cenotaph or war memorial, as the case may be.

Consenting to the Surrender of a License authorizing the Mac-
kenzie County Council to use Water from the Silverstream
Creek for the Purpose of Generating Electricity and to erect
Electric Lines within the Fairlie and Opuha Ridings of the
Mackenzie County.
WHEREAS the Mackenzie County Council was autho-
rized by Order in Council dated the 22nd day of
August, 1921, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 78
of the 25th day of the same month, to use water from the
Silverstream Creek for the purpose of generating electricity
and to erect electric lines within the Fairlie and Opuha
Ridings of the Mackenzie County:
And whereas clause 13 of the conditions of the said license
prescribes that the said Council may at any time with the
consent of the Minister of Public Works surrender the said
license:
And whereas the said Council no longer desires to hold
or exercise its rights in terms of the license and has applied
for the necessary consent to surrender:
Now, therefore, I, Hubert Thomas Armstrong, the Minister
of Public Works, do hereby consent to the surrender by the
said Council of the Order in Council dated the 22nd day of
August, 1921, and published in the New Zealand Gazette
No. 78 of the 25th day of the same month, authorizing the
use of water from the Silverstream Creek for the purpose of
generating electricity and the erection of electric lines within
the Fairlie and Opuha Ridings of the Mackenzie County,
and do hereby confirm that the said license is surrendered
accordingly.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block III, Paeroa Survey
District, for a Roadman's Cottage.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute
a certain public work - to wit, the construction of a roadman's
cottage - and for the purposes of such public work, the land
described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken:
And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land
so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at
Waiotapu and is there open for inspection; and that all
persons affected by the execution of the said public work
or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any
well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public
work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in
writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the
first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public
Works at Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken:
9 acres O roods 10 perches.
Being part Rotomahana-Parekarangi No. 6A 2 No. 1B
Block.
Situated in Block III, Paeroa Survey District (Auckland
R.D.). (S.O. 31274.)
In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 112383,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at
Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.
As witness my hand at Wellington, this 5th day of
November, 1941.

Oil Fuel Retail Hours (Waiuku) Order 1940, Amendment No. 1.

PURSUANT to the Oil Fuel Retail Hours Emergency
Regulations (No. 2) 1940, and pursuant to a requisition
in writing received in that behalf, I, Patrick Charles Webb,
Minister of Labour, do hereby direct as follows:-

  1. This Order may be cited as the Oil Fuel Retail Hours
    (Waiuku) Order 1940, Amendment No. 1.
  2. This Order shall come into force on the 17th day of
    November, 1941.
  3. The Oil Fuel Retail Hours (Waiuku) Order 1940 is hereby
    amended by deleting clause 5 thereof and substituting the
    following:—
    “5. On the holidays named in clause 4 hereof one of the
    following establishments shall be opened from 10 a.m. till
    6 p.m. on each successive holiday in the order of rotation
    hereinafter set out:—
