Captain (temp. Major) R. B. Dawson, 23rd (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, relinquishes the temporary rank of Major. Dated 30th August, 1941.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) R. P. R. McGlashan, Central Infantry Training Depot, relinquishes the temporary rank of Captain on ceasing to be Adjutant. Dated 1st September, 1941.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) G. A. T. Rhodes, 20th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, relinquishes the temporary rank of Captain on ceasing to be Adjutant. Dated 18th August, 1941.

MEMORANDA.

Captain D. M. Jack, M.B., Ch.B., N.Z. Medical Corps, was by sentence of a Court-martial ordered to take rank and precedence in the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force as if his appointment as Captain bore date the 21st July, 1941. Dated 23rd July, 1941.

Lieutenant E. Hartley, 20th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, was by sentence of a Court-martial ordered to take rank and precedence in his unit in the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force as if his name appeared after that of Lieutenant D. McInnes in the Gradation List of the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force. Dated 30th August, 1941.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to confirm the following appointments, promotions, transfers, and relinquishments of temporary rank of officers on active service with the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force overseas, vide List No. 39:—

APPOINTMENTS.

Commands and Staff.

Brigadier G. B. Parkinson, N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes command of the N.Z. Training Group, Maadi Camp, is detached for special duty, and remains seconded. Dated 6th September, 1941.

Lieutenant-Colonel A. S. Wilder, D.S.O., M.C., E.D., 25th (Wellington) Battalion, relinquishes command of the Battalion, is appointed to command the N.Z. Training Group, Maadi Camp, and is seconded. Dated 6th September, 1941.

Lieutenant-Colonel J. G. McNaught relinquishes command of the Central Infantry Training Depot, and is appointed to command the 25th (Wellington) Battalion. Dated 6th September, 1941.

Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) J. I. Brooke, 26th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, is appointed to command the Central Infantry Training Depot, and remains seconded. Dated 6th September, 1941.

Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) J. I. Brooke, 26th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, relinquishes command of the Central Infantry Training Depot, and remains seconded, retaining the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 7th September, 1941.

Major J. T. Burrows, 20th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, relinquishes the appointment of second in command of the Battalion, is appointed to command the Central Infantry Training Depot, and is seconded. Dated 7th September, 1941.

Major M. S. Carrie, N.Z. Engineers, relinquishes command of the N.Z. Engineer and Ordnance Training Depot, is appointed Public Relations Officer, 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force temporarily, and remains seconded. Dated 9th September, 1941.

Major G. H. Heal, N.Z. Divisional Signals, relinquishes the appointment of Brigade Major, 5th N.Z. Infantry Brigade, and remains seconded. Dated 9th May, 1941.

Major G. H. Heal, N.Z. Divisional Signals, relinquishes the appointment of Deputy Assistant Adjutant-General, 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is appointed Deputy Assistant Quartermaster-General, 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force, and remains seconded. Dated 1st August, 1941.

Major J. D. Cottrell, M.B., B.S. (Sydney), N.Z. Medical Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Deputy Assistant Director of Medical Services, 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force. Dated 25th August, 1941.

Captain D. B. Cameron, 20th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, relinquishes the appointment of General Staff Officer, 3rd Grade, Headquarters, Maadi Camp, and ceases to be seconded. Dated 4th September, 1941.

Captain (temp. Major) J. N. Anderson, N.Z. Engineers, is appointed to command the 5th Field Park Company. Dated 8th September, 1941.

Captain (temp. Major) J. Russell, M.B., Ch.B., N.Z. Medical Corps, is appointed Deputy Assistant Director of Medical Services, 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force. Dated 5th September, 1941.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) W. G. Lovie, 22nd (Wellington) Battalion, relinquishes the appointment of Public Relations Officer, 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force, and ceases to be seconded. Dated 9th September, 1941.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) G. P. Hanna, N.Z. Artillery, is detached for special duty and is seconded, retaining the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 8th September, 1941.

Lieutenant E. G. Lewis, 7th Anti-tank Regiment, is appointed General Staff Officer, 3rd Grade (Chemical Warfare), 2nd N.Z. Division, and is seconded. Dated 11th August, 1941.

2nd Lieutenant E. C. Laurie, 24th (Auckland) Battalion, is appointed Liaison Officer, 6th N.Z. Infantry Brigade, and is seconded. Dated 28th July, 1941.

The undermentioned officers are detached for special duty in New Zealand, and remain seconded. Dated 7th September, 1941:—
