WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL.
THE WELLINGTON CITY STREET WIDENING LOAN, 1941.
Resolution making Special Rate.
THE following resolution was duly passed at meeting of the Wellington City Council held on the 1st day of September, 1941:—
“In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and its amendments, the Wellington City Council hereby resolves as follows:—
“That, for the purpose of providing the interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a special loan of twenty-five thousand pounds (£25,000) to be known as the Wellington City Street Widening Loan, 1941, authorized to be raised by the Wellington City Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of widening and improving the following streets:—
Aro Street, Manners Street,
Arthur Street, Nelson Street,
Brougham Street, Ngaio Gorge Road,
Buckle Street, Taranaki Street,
Constable Street, Thorndon Quay,
Ghuznee Street, Tory Street,
Hunter Street, Willis Street, and
Lloyd Street, Molesworth Street
the said Wellington City Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of fourteen eight-hundredths of a penny (¹⁴⁄₈₀₀d.) in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the whole of the City of Wellington, and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of ten years from the 1st day of November, 1941, or until the loan is fully paid off.”

NOTICE is hereby given that British Specialties, Limited, has changed its name to C.C.C. Products, Limited, and that the new name was this day entered on my Register of Companies in place of the former name.

RESOLUTION.
THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Poverty Bay Turf Club at a meeting held on the 1st day of September, 1941, at Gisborne, with a recommendation by the Chairman of such club, Mr. F. Tolerton, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by His Excellency the Governor-General in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.
Mr. F. Tolerton, the Chairman of such club, and the meeting moved, and Mr. W. D. Morley seconded, and it was resolved that such regulations should be adopted and that the Chairman and Secretary be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.
The following are the regulations referred to:—
POVERTY BAY TURF CLUB.
REGULATIONS.
(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)
In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Poverty Bay Turf Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “the said club”) doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the Racecourse situated in the district of Te Aroha, and known as the Te Aroha Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.

In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.

The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely:—
(a) Bookmakers.
(b) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and bookmakers’ agents.
(c) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association.
(d) Common prostitutes and persons who habitually consort with thieves or persons who have no lawful visible means of support.
(e) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house-breaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues, and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues, convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908. Provided always that the Executive Committee appointed by the New Zealand Racing Conference, upon being satisfied by evidence as to character and otherwise that any person who, by reason of any conviction, comes within the scope of this regulation, should have relief from the effect thereof, may grant exemption to any such person, and may at any time revoke any such exemption without notice to such person, and without assigning any reason for such revocation.
The foregoing regulations of the Poverty Bay Turf Club were made and passed by such club on the 1st day of September, 1941, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

Supplementary and Extraordinary Gazettes: For the first 8 pages, 6d.; over 8 pages and not exceeding 32 pages, 9d.; increasing by 3d. for every subsequent 16 pages or part thereof; postage, 1d.
Advertisements are charged at the rate of 6d. per line for the first insertion, and 3d. per line for the second and any subsequent insertions.
All advertisements should be written on one side of the paper, and signatures, &c., should be written in a legible hand.
The number of insertions required must be written across the face of the advertisement.
The New Zealand Gazette is published on Thursday evening of each week, and notices for insertion must be received by the Government Printer before 12 o’clock of the day preceding publication.
