Hauraki Plains Drainage Area.—Notice of making and levying Rates.

I, JAMES GILLISPIE BARCLAY, acting for the Minister of Lands, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Hauraki Plains Act, 1926, do hereby make and levy on the unimproved value of all lands within the district, constituted under the said Act, the general rates to meet maintenance-costs for the period from 1st April, 1941, to 31st March, 1942, as described in the Schedule hereto.

The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on the 15th September, 1941.

The rate-book of the district is open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer’s Office, Room 45, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the office of the Land Drainage Engineer, at Kerepeehi, at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public business.

SCHEDULE.

Class A.—On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by the appraiser appointed under the said Act, fivepence and seventy-two one-hundredths of a penny (5·72d.) in pound.

Class B.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class B, threepence and twenty-seven one-hundredths of a penny (3·27d.) in the pound.

Class C.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class C, eighty-two one-hundredths of a penny (0·82d.) in the pound.

Kaitaia Drainage Area.—Notice of making and levying General Rates.

I, JAMES GILLISPIE BARCLAY, acting for the Minister of Lands, in the exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, do hereby make and levy on the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town District Subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area, constituted under the said Act, a general rate described in the First Schedule hereto, and on the unimproved value of all land in the subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area outside the Kaitaia Town District the general rates described in the Second Schedule hereto, such respective rates being for the purpose of meeting maintenance-costs for the period from the 1st April, 1941, to the 31st March, 1942.

The said rates, together with the annually recurring special rates already made and levied, will be payable in one sum on the 15th September, 1941, to the Collector of Rates at the Chief Drainage Engineer’s Office, Room 45, First Floor, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, at which office the rate-book will be available for inspection. A copy of the rate-book will be available for inspection at the office of the Chief Drainage Engineer at Kaitaia.

FIRST SCHEDULE.
TOWN SUBDIVISION.

On the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town District, sixty-six one hundredths of a penny (0·66d.) in the pound.

SECOND SCHEDULE.
RURAL SUBDIVISION.

Class A.—On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, twelvepence and twenty-one one-hundredths of a penny (12·21d.) in the pound.

Class B.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class B, fourpence and twenty-eight one-hundredths of a penny (4·28d.) in the pound.

Class C.—On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class C, one penny and eighty-three one-hundredths of a penny (1·83d.) in the pound.

I, THE attention of mariners is drawn to the following notification issued by the Naval Board, 28th August, 1941.

PUBLIC TRAFFIC REGULATIONS 1939.
Port of Wellington.

THE following amendment to the above regulations has been agreed upon by the New Zealand Naval Board and the Wellington Harbour Board.

Amendment No. 4.

Paragraph 29: Delete subclause (2), and substitute subclauses (2), (3), and (4):—

(2) Small craft, other than vessels provided with a clearance certificate issued by the Naval Control Service Officer, Wellington, are forbidden to enter or leave the port between sunset and sunrise.

(3) Small craft, other than vessels provided with a Naval clearance certificate, are forbidden to proceed outwards beyond a line joining Steeple Rock Beacon and the southern extremity of Ripple Bay. This prohibition applies by day as well as by night.

(4) The Naval clearance certificate referred to above may be in respect of a single voyage or may be issued for such period and subject to such limitations as the Naval Control Service Officer, Wellington, may think fit.

Details: The red buoy marking the reef has broken adrift and will not be replaced for some time.

I, CHARLES EDWARD ROBERTS, Returning Officer for the purpose of the Fireblight Committee Elections under the Fireblight Committee Regulations 1928, do hereby declare that the following candidates have been duly nominated for the election of members of the Fireblight Committee of the Marlborough Commercial * Fruitgrowing District, nominations for which closed at Wellington at noon on the 9th day of September, 1941:—
