Proclaiming the Borough of Lower Hutt to be a City.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS a petition has been received from the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Lower Hutt praying that the said borough be proclaimed a city under the provisions of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933:

And whereas the population of the said borough is not less than twenty thousand:

And whereas it is desirable that effect should be given to the said petition:

Now, therefore, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section one hundred and thirty-four of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, do hereby proclaim the Borough of Lower Hutt to be a city as on and from the first day of February, one thousand nine hundred and forty-one.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 21st day of January, 1941.

Land set apart as Provisional State Forest declared to be subject to the Land Act, 1924.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section twenty of the Forests Act, 1921–22, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting on the recommendation of the Minister of Lands, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto, being part of Provisional State Forest Reserve No. 1605, set apart by Proclamation dated the eleventh day of October, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, and gazetted on the fourteenth day of that month, is required for settlement purposes; and, in accordance with the provisions of the said Act, such land shall, from and after the day of the gazetting hereof, cease to be provisional State forest, and shall become subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.

SCHEDULE.

WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.

ALL that area containing 273 acres 3 roods, more or less, being portion of Reserve 1605 (provisional State forest), situated in Block I, Hohonu Survey District, and bounded as follows: On the east by the New River; on the south by the Maori Creek Road; on the west by a public road and by a right line bearing 0° 09′ 30″ distance 739·7 links to Cards Creek; and on the north generally by Cards Creek and by right lines bearing 196° 24′ 30″ distance 307·4 links, 182° 04′ 321 links, 181° 18′ 858·5 links, 181° 06′ 387·5 links, 181° 52′ 428·1 links, 92° 47′ 30″ 978·8 links, 83° 23′ 30″ 1123·9 links, 90° 08′ 947·6 links, 119° 45′ 448·3 links, 97° 2140·1 links, and 106° 24′, 559·9 links; excepting thereout the public road intersecting the area.

And also that area containing 22 acres 2 roods 30 perches, more or less, being portion of Reserve 1605 (provisional State forest), situated in Block I, Hohonu Survey District, and bounded as follows: On the east, south, and west by the New River; and on the north by right lines bearing 60° 33′ distance 40 links, 86° 36′ 377·4 links, 108° 31′ 20″ 787·9 links, 53° 19′ 438·5 links.

As the same are more particularly delineated on plan marked L. and S. XI/7/431B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 20th day of January, 1941.

Declaring certain Crown Land to be subject to Part I of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1936.—(Tokaanu Development Scheme.)

A PROCLAMATION.

PURSUANT to section five of the Native Purposes Act, 1939, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the Crown land described in the Schedule hereto to be subject to Part I of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1936.

SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, Taupo County, containing an area of 389 acres 3 roods 10 perches, more or less, being Section 1, Block XI, Puketi Survey District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan lodged at the office of the Chief Surveyor at Wellington under No. 329/13P, and therein bordered red; and

All that area of land in the Taupo County situate in Block X, Puketi Survey District, containing by admeasurement 275 acres 3 roods 6·02 perches, more or less, being part of the Hautu 3F No. 1 Block, and being the balance of the land in Certificate of Title, Vol. 308, folio 132, Wellington Registry, after deducting road reserves one chain wide fronting Lake Taupo and the Tongariro River.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 20th day of January, 1941.

Authorizing the Laying-off of a Street in the City of Wellington of a Width less than 66 ft., but not less than 40 ft., subject to a Condition as to the Building-line.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 16th day of January, 1941.

Present:

THE RIGHT HON. P. FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, and the Public Works Act, 1928, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby authorize the Wellington City Council to permit the laying-off of the proposed street described in the Schedule hereto of a width less than sixty-six feet, but not less than forty feet, subject to the condition that no building or part of a building shall at any time be erected on the land fronting the said street within a distance of thirty-five feet from the centre-line of the said street.

SCHEDULE.

THAT proposed street, in the Wellington Land District, City of Wellington, containing by admeasurement 1 rood 10 perches, more or less, being part Sections 440 and 441, Town of Wellington. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 109613, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
