Alterations to the Scale of Charges upon the New Zealand Government Railways.
IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under the Government Railways Act, 1926, and its amendments, and of all other powers enabling me in this behalf, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Railways, do hereby make the following alterations to the General Scale of Charges and to the Goods—Local Rates Scale of Charges made on the 13th day of April, 1939, and published in the Supplement dated the 19th day of April, 1939, to the New Zealand Gazette of the 13th day of April, 1939, in force on the New Zealand Government Railways open for traffic.
GENERAL SCALE OF CHARGES.
PASSENGERS.
- Suburban Fares.
By adding to paragraph 11 the following :—
Second-class tickets only will be issuable for travel by suburban trains operating between Christchurch—Rangiora and Christchurch—Islington.
By adding to paragraph 12 the following :—
Second-class tickets only will be issuable for travel by suburban trains operating between Dunedin — Port Chalmers and Dunedin—Mosgiel.
By adding to paragraph 13 the following :—
Second-class tickets only will be issuable.
- South Island Main Line and Branches.
Paragraph 5 : Through Booking, Dunedin, Ravensbourne, and Portobello.
By omitting the first-class fares appearing in subparagraph (a).
Paragraph 6 :—
By omitting the first-class fares appearing in this paragraph.
LUGGAGE, PARCELS, ETC.
- Excess Luggage.
By omitting paragraph 15 and substituting the following :—
- The following are the shipping company’s charges between Wellington and Lyttelton and between Wellington and Picton :—
Bona fide personal luggage (free allowance inclusive of workmen’s tools, 1 cwt. per adult passenger), 2s. 6d. per 56 lb. or fraction of 56 lb.
Samples (free allowance inclusive of bona fide personal luggage, 1 cwt. per adult passenger), 1s. 8d. per 56 lb. or fraction of 56 lb. (up to 15 cwt.).
Samples (in quantities over 15 cwt.), goods rates.
Goods rates (no free allowance), 2s. 6d. per 56 lb. or fraction of 56 lb.
Bicycles, 6s. 6d. each.
Bicycles, motor, 15s. 3d each.
Bicycles, motor, with side-car, 30s. 6d. each.
Sewing-machines, 6s. 6d. each.
Minimum charge, 4s.
For the purposes of this paragraph “shipping company” has the same meaning as is prescribed by paragraph 19, Regulation 45.
