Result of Election of a Member of the Dunedin Metropolitan Fire Board by Fire-insurance Companies.

THE following result of the election of a member of the Dunedin Metropolitan Fire Board has been reported to the Minister of Internal Affairs, and is notified in accordance with the rules under the Fire Brigades Act, 1926 :—

Development Works to be undertaken by the Crown on Land in Kauri-gum District.

IT is hereby notified, pursuant to section 11 of the Kauri-gum Industry Act, 1908, as amended by section 16 of the Statutes Amendment Act, 1937, that development works have been or are to be undertaken by the Crown on the Crown lands described in the Schedule hereto, being land within a kauri-gum district.

Dated this 18th day of December, 1941.

ALL those areas in the County of Mangonui containing by admeasurement a total area of 544 acres 2 roods 4·5 perches, more or less, being part of Section 5 of Block III, Opoe Survey District, and Sections 11 to 14, inclusive, and Section 25 of Block IV, Opoe Survey District. As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 15/77 “A,” deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. NEW ZEALAND.—HAURAKI GULF.—WHANGAPARAOA PASSAGE.

Buoy established.—Prohibited Anchorage.

(1) Position: 306° 1·5 miles from Tiri Tiri Matangi Light-house. Lat., 36° 36′ S.; long., 174° 54′ E. (approx.).
Abridged description: Fl. ev. 3 sec.
Description: Black pillar light and whistle buoy exhibiting a flashing white light every three seconds, visible nine miles.

(2) Position: 243° 2·35 miles from lighthouse.
Abridged description: Fl. ev. sec.
Description: Red pillar buoy exhibiting a flashing white light every second, visible three miles.

(3) Position: 240° three miles from lighthouse.
Description: Unlighted red pillar buoy.

(4) Prohibited Anchorage: Anchorage is prohibited within an area enclosed by a line 106° from the shore to lightbuoy in (2), thence 196° for one mile, thence 286° to the shore.

Notice to Persons affected by an Application for a License under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936.

Manufacture for Sale of Footwear.

AN application has been received from Duckworth, Turner, and Co., Ltd., 178 Carlyle Street, Christchurch, for an extension of its existing license to permit the manufacture of military footwear by the screwed and stitched methods, such extension to operate for the duration of the war and six months thereafter.

Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decision of the Bureau of Industry on this application, and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish them in writing not later than the 5th January, 1942.

Building Construction Control Notice No. 6, 1941.

NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939, and the Building Emergency Regulations 1939, I hereby direct as follows :—

  1. Except as provided in paragraph 2 hereof, this notice shall apply with respect to every constructional work—
    (a) Which requires the use of more than 5 cwt. of structural steel; or
    (b) The estimated cost of which exceeds one hundred pounds (£100).

  2. This notice shall not apply with respect to any constructional work which consists of the erection of any dwellinghouse the estimated cost of which does not exceed fifteen hundred pounds (£1,500), and which does not require the use of more than 5 cwt. of structural steel.

  3. Every constructional work which has been commenced on or before the date of the publication of this notice, and to which this notice applies, shall be wholly stopped on the 31st day of January, 1942, whether or not it is the subject of a permit or consent granted under the Building Emergency Regulations 1939; and no person shall thereafter proceed with any such work, or cause or permit any other person so to do, unless a special permit is issued by the Building Controller in respect thereof after the publication of this notice.

  4. All applications for such permits must be lodged with the Building Controller, P.O. Box 3005, Wellington, on or before the 15th day of January, 1942, and must be submitted on the appropriate form, copies of which may be obtained from any local authority or from the Inspectors of Housing Construction at Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North, Napier, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin.

  5. In any case where an application has been made to a local authority whether before or after the publication of this notice for a permit for any constructional work to which this notice applies, the local authority shall not issue a permit therefor without the precedent consent of the Building Controller granted after the publication of this notice.

  6. In any case where any person proposes to commence any constructional work to which this notice applies and no permit therefor is required from a local authority that person shall not commence the work, except in accordance with a permit issued by the Building Controller, after the publication of this notice, notwithstanding that the Building Controller may previously have issued a permit for the work.

  7. In any case where any person has before the publication of this notice obtained a permit from a local authority for any constructional work to which this notice applies and the work has not been commenced on or before the date of the publication of this notice, that person shall not commence the work unless a special permit is issued in respect thereof by the Building Controller after the publication of this notice.

  8. The Building Construction Control Notice 1940* and the Building Construction Control Notice No. 2, 1941,† are hereby revoked.

  9. For the purposes of this notice “structural steel” includes reinforcing steel.

Building Construction Control Notice No. 7, 1941.

PURSUANT to the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939, and the Building Emergency Regulations 1939, I hereby direct as follows :—

  1. Except with the precedent consent of the Building Controller no person shall use galvanized corrugated steel sheets or corrugated terne sheets (lead-tin alloy coated sheets) for the purpose of any constructional work other than the repair of existing roofs or the manufacture of supply tanks of 400-gallon capacity or more.

  2. Except with the precedent consent of the Building Controller no person shall use corrugated asbestos cement sheets otherwise than for roofing purposes.
