Appointments in the Public Service.

THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service:—
Constable Gardner Thomas Beadle,
to be Clerk and Bailiff of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1926, Clerk of the Warden’s Court, Receiver of Gold Revenue and Mining Registrar at Lawrence for the Otago Mining District constituted under the Mining Act, 1924, and Maintenance Officer at the Magistrates’ Court at Lawrence for the purposes of the Destitute Persons Amendment Act, 1926, on and from the 4th day of September, 1940.
George Oliver Whatnall,
to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Weights and Measures Act, 1925, on and from the 10th day of September, 1940.

Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths appointed.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on me by the Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1924, I, Gilbert Graham Hodgkins, Deputy Registrar-General, do hereby appoint David Edward Plummer
to be the Deputy of the Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Denniston.

Summer Time.
IT is hereby notified for general information that, under the Summer Time Act, 1929, and the Summer Time Amendment Act, 1933, summer time commences at two o’clock New Zealand standard time in the morning of Sunday, 29th instant, and ends at two o’clock New Zealand standard time in the morning of Sunday, 27th April, 1941.
For the purpose of giving effect to the Act the time will therefore be advanced thirty minutes as from 2 a.m. New Zealand standard time on Sunday, 29th instant, and be put back thirty minutes as from 2 a.m. New Zealand standard time on Sunday, 27th April, 1941.

Election of Members of the Harihari Bobby Calf Pool Committee.
PURSUANT to the Bobby Calf Marketing Regulations 1939, notice has been received that

have been duly elected to be members of the Harihari Bobby Calf Pool Committee established by the said regulations.

Election of Members of the Inangahua-Maruia Bobby Calf Pool Committee.
PURSUANT to the Bobby Calf Marketing Regulations 1939, notice has been received that

Roy Inwood,
John Smith,
George Thomson,
Ralph Gibbs,
James Desmond O’Regan, and
Frederick Charles Watts
have been duly elected to be members of the Inangahua-Maruia Bobby Calf Pool Committee established by the said regulations.

Declaring a Bobby Calf Marketing Pool Area.
PURSUANT to the Bobby Calf Marketing Regulations 1939, I, Walter Nash, Minister of Marketing, being satisfied that a sufficient majority of the producers in the area of land defined in the Schedule hereto are desirous that such area should be declared to be a pool area for the marketing of bobby calves, do hereby declare such area of land, defined as aforesaid, to be a Bobby Calf Marketing Pool Area for the purposes of the said regulations under the name set out in the said Schedule, and I do hereby declare that this notice shall take effect on the 26th day of September, 1940.
SCHEDULE.
HARIHARI BOBBY CALF MARKETING POOL AREA.
ALL that area of land situated within the Westland County and bounded by a line commencing at the south bank of the Totara River at the point where it enters the sea; thence continuing along the sea-coast in a south-westerly direction to a point where it meets Abut Head, Block I, Wataroa Survey District; thence continuing in a straight line across country in a southerly direction to the south-western corner of Block XIII, Waitangi-Taona Survey District; thence following the Westland County boundary in a north-easterly direction to Mount McWhirter; thence taking a straight line across country to the south bank of the Totara River where the said river enters the sea, being the original point of commencement.

Declaring a Bobby Calf Marketing Pool Area.

SCHEDULE.
INANGAHUA-MARUIA BOBBY CALF MARKETING POOL AREA.
ALL that area of land situated within the Inangahua and Murchison Counties and bounded by a line commencing at the eastern corner of Section 8, Block V, Matakitaki Survey District; thence continuing in a straight line across country in a westerly direction to Mount Victoria situated on the boundary between the Inangahua and Murchison Counties; thence following the Inangahua boundary in a northerly and westerly direction to the Inangahua River; thence continuing along the aforesaid boundary in a south-westerly direction to a point where it meets the McMahon Creek; thence taking a straight line across country in a southerly direction to the railway-tunnel on the Greymouth-Reefton Railway-line in Block XIII, Reefton Survey District; thence in a straight line across country in a south-easterly direction to Mount Gore; thence in a straight line across country in an easterly direction to Mount Haast; thence following the Inangahua boundary in a south-easterly direction to a point where it meets Mary Creek; thence taking a straight line across country in a north-easterly direction to the point where the Alfred River meets Lake Daniels; thence in a straight line across country in a northerly direction to the eastern corner of Section 8, Block V, Matakitaki Survey District, being the original point of commencement.

Declaring certain Services for Carriage of Goods by Motor-vehicle to be Goods-services.
PURSUANT to clause 21 of the Applied Provisions of the Transport (Goods) Order, 1936, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Transport, do hereby declare that any service by motor-vehicle for the carriage (whether for hire or reward or not) of logs or sawn or prepared timber to or from timber-mills, or to or from any depot served by or served from such mills, over more than fifteen miles of public road wholly or partly within any of the counties of Wallace, Southland, or Clutha, shall be deemed for the purposes of the Transport Licensing Act, 1931, and the Applied Provisions of the Transport (Goods) Order, 1936, to be a goods-service within the meaning of the said Act and the said provisions, whether or not such service has been heretofore carried on under the authority and in terms of a goods-service license.
