Tenders for Inland Mail-service Contracts.—Blenheim, Christchurch, Dunedin, Greymouth, Invercargill, Nelson, Oamaru, Timaru, and Westport Postal Districts, 1941–43.

General Post Office,
Wellington, 6th September, 1940.

SEALED tenders will be received at the Chief Post-offices, Blenheim, Christchurch, Dunedin, Greymouth, Invercargill, Nelson, Oamaru, Timaru, and Westport, until noon on Monday, the 14th October, 1940, for the conveyance of mails between the undermentioned places for a period of three years from the 1st January, 1941.

POSTAL DISTRICT OF BLENHEIM.

  1. Blenheim, Robinhood Bay, Ocean Bay, Hakahaka, Whangataura, Ngakuta, and Hakana, weekly.

  2. Havelock, Brightlands, Elaine Bay, Saville’s Bay, Te Towaka, Waitata Bay, Bulwer, Port Ligar, Forsyth Island, Wakatahuri, Te Puru, Okoha, Anakoha, Titirangi, Pohuenui, Maud Island, Beatrix Bay, Clova Bay, Manaroa, Hopai, Eli Bay, Crail Bay, Homewood, and Havelock (part private bag delivery), twice weekly.

  3. Havelock, Whatanihi, Palmer’s, Pinohia, Maori Bay, J. H. Wells’, Wells Bros., B. R. Paton, Roadley’s, Hamilton, Tiraora, Te Rawa, A. R. Foote’s, Pokokini, G. G. Wells, Yncyca Bay, Tamure, Nikau Bay, Neame’s, Anderson’s, Ohingaroa, Birch Nook, Brownlee’s, and Havelock (part private bag delivery), twice weekly.

POSTAL DISTRICT OF CHRISTCHURCH.

  1. Ashburton Railway-station and Post-office, as required.

  2. Kaiapoi Railway-station and Post-office, five times daily.

  3. Little River and Puaha: Little River along Main Road, Puaha Valley Road to Stackhouse’s, retrace to Puaha, Harman’s Track (Chapman’s), retrace Harman’s Track and Puaha Valley Road to Little River (rural delivery), daily. (Alternative to 4.)

  4. Little River and Puaha: Little River along Main Road, Puaha Valley Road to Stackhouse’s, retrace to Puaha, Harman’s Track (Chapman’s), retrace Harman’s Track and Puaha Valley Road to Little River (rural delivery), thrice weekly. (Alternative to 3.)

  5. Little River and Te Oka: Little River along Main Little River Road and Te Oka Road to Te Oka (rural delivery), twice weekly.

  6. Rangiora Railway-station and Post-office, as required.

POSTAL DISTRICT OF DUNEDIN.

  1. Alexandra–Earnscleugh: Alexandra by Earnscleugh and Blackman’s Gully Roads to Kinnaird’s Corner, returning to Earnscleugh School, and along Clyde Main Road as far as Fraser River Bridge, then by Main and Earnscleugh Roads to Alexandra (rural delivery), daily.

  2. Alexandra–Roxburgh: Alexandra via Main Road to Fruitlands and Roxburgh and retrace to Alexandra (part rural delivery), thrice weekly.

  3. Alexandra–Galloway: Alexandra, along Alexandra–Omakau Main Road, diverting to Galloway Road near Wallace’s, thence to Galloway Railway-station corner, retrace to corner of River and Galloway Roads, thence along River Road, deviating by side road opposite Donaldson’s to the Galloway Road, and returning to Alexandra (rural delivery), daily.

  4. Balclutha Railway-station – Post-office, as required.

  5. Bannockburn–Nevis, weekly.

  6. Clinton–Wairuna:
    (a) Clinton, via Main North and Ashley Downs Roads to W. Taylor’s residence, Taumata School, returning to Clinton via Taumata Road; then via Main South, Brown’s, and Old School Roads to Wairuna Siding, via Couston’s, Madden’s, and School Roads to Wairuna School, thence along Clarke’s, Diver’s and Popotunoa Roads to Clinton, daily.
    (b) Clinton, Popotunoa Road to Popotunoa School, Clement’s Corner, McHaffie’s and Pomahaka River Roads to Swan’s Corner, and return to Clinton via Popotunoa Road (rural delivery), thrice weekly.

  7. Cromwell–Bannockburn, five times weekly.

  8. Dunedin–Otakou:
    (a) Dunedin, Macandrew Bay, Broad Bay, and Portobello, twice daily.
    (b) Portobello and Otakou, thrice weekly.

  9. Lauder–Becks: Lauder to J. Mee’s gate, R. Hore’s gate, retrace to Main Road, along Main Road to J. Beattie’s, retrace to T. H. Mee’s Road, along T. H. Mee’s Road to J. Passmore’s, to Armstrong’s, to J. Hamilton’s, R. Brown’s, and T. A. Clouston’s gates to Lauder (rural delivery), daily.

  10. Middlemarch–Sutton: Middlemarch, along Mason’s and Main Roads to junction with McKinnon’s Road at Rock and Pillar, return along McKinnon’s and Main Roads to Middlemarch, along Hospital Road and Brough’s Road to H. E. Ward, to Gladbrook Station, along Dawson’s Road to Main Road, along Main Road, Leckie’s Road, and Farm Road to Main Road, and return to Middlemarch (rural delivery), daily.
