Promotion.
Acting Flight Lieutenant Haydn Clinton Wilton to be Flight Lieutenant (temporary). Dated 1st June, 1940.
EQUIPMENT BRANCH.—SECTION II.
Appointment.
Nicholas Edward Higgs is granted an Honorary Commission in the rank of Flight Lieutenant, as Engineer Officer. Dated 27th June, 1940.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, and transfers of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—
STAFF.
Captain (temp. Major) R. F. Johnston, N.Z. Dental Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Assistant Director of Dental Services, Northern Military District, and the temporary rank of Major, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), Area 1. Dated 30th June, 1940.
Captain (temp. Major) L. P. Davies, O.B.E., N.Z. Dental Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Assistant Director of Dental Services, Central Military District, and the temporary rank of Major, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), Area 5. Dated 30th June, 1940.
Colonel J. H. Whyte, D.S.O., D.C.M., Retired List, is appointed to the Active List, N.Z. Staff Corps, and is attached temporarily to the General Staff Branch, Army Headquarters, Wellington. Dated 18th July, 1940.
Captain G. F. Yerex, Reserve of Officers, N.Z. Staff Corps, is transferred to the Active List, and is attached temporarily to the General Staff Branch, Army Headquarters, Wellington. Dated 18th July, 1940.
N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF.
Lieutenant J. D. Hutchison, N.Z. Artillery, to be Captain, and is appointed Deputy Assistant Adjutant-General, Southern Military District, Christchurch. Dated 10th July, 1940.
Lieutenant A. A. Heath relinquishes the appointment of Dental Officer, Mobilization Camp, Papakura, and is attached to the Royal N.Z. Air Force Training Depot, Levin. Dated 16th July, 1940.
Lieutenant A. E. Hope relinquishes the appointment of Dental Officer, Mobilization Camp, Papakura, and is attached to the Royal N.Z. Air Force Station, Ohakea. Dated 16th July, 1940.
The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 74, dated 18th July, 1940, relative to the appointment of 2nd Lieutenant W. L. Britton, Reserve of Officers, The Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own), is hereby cancelled.
William Lewis Britton (late Imperial Army) to be Lieutenant, and is appointed Company Commander, No. 2 Training Battalion, Mobilization Camp, Trentham. Dated 13th April, 1940.
COMMANDS.
Lieutenant-Colonel E. F. Selby, M.C., V.D., The Southland Regiment, relinquishes command of the 1st Battalion and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), Area 12. Dated 31st May, 1940.
Major C. E. Lees, The Southland Regiment, is appointed to command the 1st Battalion. Dated 1st June, 1940.
THE OTAGO MOUNTED RIFLES.
Major C. E. Lees is transferred to the Southland Regiment. Dated 1st June, 1940.
THE NELSON-MARLBOROUGH MOUNTED RIFLES.
Henry John Stace to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.). Dated 1st June, 1940.
N.Z. ARTILLERY.
Major J. W. Smeaton, from the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be Major (temp.), and is posted to Headquarters, 3rd Field Regiment. Dated 1st June, 1940.
Captain L. R. Webley, from the Reserve of Officers, to be Captain, with seniority from 1st June, 1938, and is posted to the 5th Battery, 3rd Field Regiment. Dated 11th July, 1940.
Lieutenant G. R. Park, M.C., 5th Battery, 3rd Field Regiment, is granted the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 1st June, 1940.
CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.
Captain (temp. Major) W. R. Dyer, B.Sc., 1st Field Company, relinquishes the temporary rank of Major and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), Area 1. Dated 10th July, 1940.
N.Z. CORPS OF SIGNALS.
2nd Lieutenant E. J. Cornes, B.Sc., Northern District Signal Company, to be Lieutenant. Dated 1st July, 1940.
THE AUCKLAND REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY’S OWN).
The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 66, dated 27th June, 1940, relative to the transfer of Captain A. E. Brendon, is hereby cancelled.
THE HAURAKI REGIMENT.
Captain H. C. Sibley, 1st Cadet Battalion, is attached to The Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own). Dated 28th May, 1940.
Lieutenant G. W. Ormandy, 2nd Cadet Battalion, is attached to the 1st Battalion (temporarily), with seniority from 24th June, 1940. Dated 11th July, 1940.
Lieutenant H. H. Craig, 2nd Cadet Battalion, is attached to the 1st Battalion (temporarily), with seniority from 24th June, 1940, next below Lieutenant G. W. Ormandy. Dated 11th July, 1940.
THE NORTH AUCKLAND REGIMENT.
Lieutenant G. W. Foote, from the Reserve of Officers, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 2nd March, 1940, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 5th July, 1940.
THE WAIKATO REGIMENT.
William James Dick (late Lieutenant, British Expeditionary Force), to be Lieutenant (temp.), and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 1st June, 1940.
