TO THE

NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE

Notice under the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939,
as to Cordage, Rope, Twine, and Thread.

NOTICE is hereby given that in pursuance of the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939, I hereby direct and require as follows:—

RETURNS OF STOCKS.

(1) Every person (hereinafter referred to as an owner) who on the date of the publication of this Notice in the Gazette has in his possession or control or on order by him any of the goods described in the Schedule hereto and who in the normal course of business sells any of those goods shall not later than the 9th day of August, 1940, furnish to the Secretary, Ministry of Supply, P.O. Box 1679, Wellington, full particulars of all such goods specifying—

(a) In the case of such goods as are in the possession or control of the owner at that date—

(i) Description and grades ;
(ii) Quantities ;
(iii) Address where stored or kept ; and

(b) In the case of such goods as are on order by him at that date—

(i) Name and address of supplier ;
(ii) Date when order placed ;
(iii) Description and grades ;
(iv) Quantities ;
(v) Date of shipment or anticipated date of shipment.

RESTRICTIONS ON SALES, ETC.

(2) No owner to whom clause (1) of this Notice applies shall sell, supply, dispose of, or part with, the possession or control of any of the goods described in the Schedule hereto, to any other person unless—

(a) The owner first receives an application duly completed by that other person on a form approved by the Minister of Supply and provided for the purpose by the owner ; and

(b) The application is submitted to and approved by the Secretary, Ministry of Supply, or a person appointed by him for this purpose.

(3) No owner to whom clause (1) of this Notice applies shall use for any purpose any of the goods described in the Schedule hereto unless—

(a) The owner duly completes an application on a form approved by the Minister of Supply ; and

(b) The application is submitted to and approved by the Secretary, Ministry of Supply, or a person appointed by him for this purpose.

RETURNS OF RECEIPTS AND ISSUES.

(4) Every person to whom clause (1) of this Notice applies shall forward to the Secretary, Ministry of Supply, from time to time as requested by the Secretary, all applications under clause (2) and (3) of this Notice which have been approved during such period as the Secretary may specify, together with a return showing the owner’s stocks of the goods described in the Schedule hereto and particulars of those goods which have been received by him or used, sold, supplied, or otherwise disposed of during that period, together with such documents as may be required by the Secretary for the purpose of authenticating such returns.

SCHEDULE.

CORDAGE, rope, twine, and thread, manufactured wholly or in part from linen flax or hemp.

NOTICE is hereby given in pursuance of the Regulations Act, 1936, of the making of the above-entitled Order under the above-entitled regulations.

Serial number : 1940/158.

Date of enactment : 29th day of July, 1940.

Copies can be purchased at the Government Printing and Stationery Office, Lambton Quay, Wellington. Price for cash with order 1d., plus postage 1d. extra. Prices for quantities supplied on application. Copies may be ordered by quoting above serial number.
