Article 260, paragraph (4): Cancel, and substitute :—
“(4) General.—Should an officer’s service in the New Zealand Naval Forces be terminated owing to his misconduct or unsatisfactory service or should an officer voluntarily withdraw from service in the New Zealand Naval Forces prior to the completion of the period for which lent, the Government do not hold themselves responsible for his return passage or, whether normally eligible or otherwise, for the return passage of his wife and family.
“An officer who, at his own request, reverts to the Royal Navy prior to the expiration of his period of loan service in the New Zealand Naval Forces will be required to defray all expenses incurred in connection with the passage to New Zealand of his relief unless very strong reasons are put forward why such charges should not be made.”
Article 291, paragraph (1): Cancel, and substitute :—
“291 Subsistence Allowance.—The following are the rates at which subsistence allowance is payable when travelling on duty :—

Article 360: Cancel, and substitute :—
“360. Communications to and from the Naval Board.—All communications and orders of the Naval Board to the Commodore Commanding and ships of the New Zealand Naval Forces will be issued through the Naval Secretary.
“2. The Assistant Naval Secretary is the deputy of the Naval Secretary and in the absence of the Naval Secretary acts for him in all respects. By virtue of his office the Assistant Naval Secretary is authorized in his discretion to sign memoranda ‘for Naval Secretary.’
“3. Communications for the Naval Board are to be addressed to
‘The Naval Secretary,
‘Navy Office,
‘Wellington.’
“4. Telegrams for the Naval Board are to be addressed to
‘Naval,’
‘Wellington.’”
Article 361: Cancel, and substitute :—
“361. Correspondence: General.—The rules for the conduct of correspondence laid down in the King’s Regulations and Admiralty Instructions, Articles 874 to 886, are generally to be observed, except where at variance with orders issued by the Naval Board or the Commodore Commanding (vide Article 3).
“2. All letters and minutes addressed to the Naval Secretary are to be forwarded in duplicate, and are to be numbered.
“3. Correspondence on Squadron Matters.—No Commanding Officer shall communicate direct with the Naval Board on matters of importance, or in which principle, secrecy, or controversy is involved, unless he is specially instructed so to do. All such correspondence is to be addressed to the Commodore Commanding who, should he think fit, will refer the matter with his remarks to the Naval Board for their information or consideration. Should the junior officer consider that the matter is one which should be brought to the notice of the Naval Board sooner than the report could reach the Navy Office if made through the Commodore Commanding, he is still to address his report to the Commodore Commanding, but is to transmit a copy direct to Navy Office, informing the Commodore Commanding that he has done so.
