Parts of the Defence Forces called out for Military Service.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the Defence Emergency Regulations 1939, the Governor-General may by Proclamation call out the Defence Forces or any part thereof for military service:

And whereas, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the Defence Emergency Regulations 1939, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in that behalf, do hereby call out for military service for purposes of defence in New Zealand, as from the first day of June, nineteen hundred and forty, the following parts of the Defence Forces, namely,—

Officers, Warrant Officers, and Non-commissioned Officers of the rank of Sergeant and above, and two Corporals per platoon of the following units:—

1st Battalion, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own).

1st Battalion, The Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own).

1st Battalion, The Canterbury Regiment.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 31st day of May, 1940.
