THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Kawhia County.—Kawhia North Survey District.
SECTION 2, Block III: Area, 482 acres 0 roods 16 perches. Capital value, £210. Deposit on deferred payments, £10. Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £6 10s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £4 4s.
Weighted with £234 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising whare, 210 chains boundary fence, 40 chains road fence, 80 chains internal fence, 40 acres felled and grassed.
Situated on Mako Mako Road, forty-eight miles from Hamilton, one mile from Mako Mako School, and seventeen miles to Oparau Dairy Factory. Access is by metalled road. A small grazing proposition, 240 acres of which has been grassed but is largely reverted to stunted manuka, 40 acres flat, balance easy to steep hills. The soil is light loam on sandstone; watered by streams, springs, and Mako Mako Creek. Blackberry and ragwort are prevalent. The section is not suitable as an independent unit, but would work in well with adjoining or nearby holding.

Town Settlement Land in Wellington Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
District Lands and Survey Office,

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, and the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 27th May, 1940.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, on Wednesday, 29th May, 1940, at 10 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken period rent, and lease fee.

Petone Borough.—Wilford Settlement.—Block XIII, Belmont Survey District.
SECTION 5, Block III: Area, 28·71 perches. Capital value, £250; half-yearly rent, £6 5s.
Wilford Settlement is situated on the eastern part of the Borough of Petone and this section is only a few minutes walk from Ava Station. The Section, which fronts on to Wakefield Street, is suitable for residential purposes and sewerage, drainage, high-pressure water-supply, gas, and electricity are all available.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned property is open for selection on optional tenures under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 6th May, 1940.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, on Wednesday, 8th May, 1940, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position, such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply guarantees of their own financial position.

Weighted with £40 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising dwelling, cow-byre, barn, and fencing.
The land is situated about three miles from Glenomaru Post-office, School, and Railway-station, on a clay road about one mile from Balclutha-Owaka Highway. About 21 acres is in worn-out pasture, and the balance is in natural state. The area which is hilly and broken is suitable for working with adjoining land.
