NEW ZEALAND.---SOUTH ISLAND.---TIMARU HARBOUR.
Amendment to Sailing Directions, &c.
Position: Lat., 44° 24' S.; long., 171° 15' E. (approx.).
Amendments: During the present stage of harbour alterations it is necessary for Masters, after rounding the Extension, to keep no further north than No. 3 wharf lights in line. When the entrance to the harbour is opened up work the port as usual.
This course will clear moorings laid in a straight line from the straight of the Marine Parade distance 850 ft.
The green light and structure on the end of the North Mole has been replaced by a temporary green light at an elevation of 10 ft. During daylight working-hours the lamp and standard may be removed.

Declaration of Election of Members of the Fireblight Committee of the Christchurch Commercial Fruitgrowing District.
I, CHARLES EDWARD ROBERTS, Returning Officer for the purpose of the Fireblight Committee Elections under the Fireblight Committee Regulations, 1928, do hereby declare that the following candidates have been duly nominated for the election of members of the Fireblight Committee of the Christchurch Commercial Fruitgrowing District, nomination for which closed at Wellington at noon on the 19th day of March, 1940:

Pope, Charles Ernest.

Restricting the Cool-storage of Fruit.
PURSUANT to the Primary Industries Emergency Regulations 1939, I, Alfred Hyde Cockayne, Primary Industries Controller, do hereby prohibit the deposit, otherwise than by or on behalf of the Marketing Department, of any fruit in any cool store for the purpose of cool-storage except in pursuance of a permit to be granted by Francis Raymond Picot, Food Controller, who may grant any application for a permit either wholly or partly and either provisionally or absolutely for such period and upon or subject to such conditions as he thinks fit.
