A disturbance crossed the Auckland Province on the 16th and caused wet weather, and there were some heavy downpours in the Poverty Bay—East Cape area.

After the 17th pressure persisted high in the north and fine weather prevailed with no appreciable rain till the 23rd, when a westerly depression resulted in rain in the south and west. Thereafter heavy showers advanced up the east coast of the South Island, and during the 26th and 27th heavy rain fell in central provinces, with torrential falls along the southern edge of the North Island.

By the 29th an advancing anti-cyclone took control, so that the year closed with warm and settled weather.
