ESTATE OF CHARLES ROOKING CARTER.
——
In the matter of a certain bequest under the will of CHARLES ROOKING CARTER, of Wellington, Gentleman, deceased.

TAKE notice that a petition filed by the Royal Society of New Zealand to approve a scheme varying the terms of a certain bequest under the will of the above-named deceased will be heard in the Supreme Courthouse, Wellington, on Wednesday, the 1st day of May, 1940, at 10.30 a.m.

The bequest was of the sum of £50 for the purpose of erecting a brick room within which to house a library of books on New Zealand previously presented by the deceased to the Colonial Museum. The money was insufficient for the purpose and has been allowed to accumulate. It is now proposed to vary the terms of the bequest by spending the accumulated funds in the purchase of steel book-cases for housing the books in the Dominion Museum, in the upkeep of the books, and in adding further books as opportunity offers. The proposed variation has been approved by the Attorney-General.

Any person may inspect the scheme (without fee) at the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Wellington.

Dated this 15th day of March, 1940.

BRANDON, WARD, HISLOP, AND POWLES,
Solicitors for the petitioner.
