Appointments and Transfers of Officers of the Royal New
Zealand Air Force.
Air Department,
Wellington, llth January, 1940.
HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to approve of the following appointments and
transfers of officers of the Royal New Zealand Air Force :—
HEADQUARTERS STAFF.
Group Captain H. W. L. Saunders, M.C., D.F.C., M.M.,
R.A.F., resumes the appointment of Chief of the Air
Staff and Senior Air Force Member of the Air Board.
Dated 23rd December, 1939.
Group Captain L. M. Isitt, A.D.C., R.N.Z.A.F., relinquishes
his appointment of Acting Chief of the Air Staff. Dated
22nd December, 1939.
GENERAL DUTIES BRANCH.
Flying Officer Richard James Robert Haldane Makgill is
granted the temporary rank of Flight Lieutenant as
from 15th September, 1939.
Appointments.
Flight Lieutenant William Frederick Parke (Retired List)
is granted a temporary commission in the General
Duties Branch in his present rank as from 5th October,
1939.
John Allan Kirkcaldie is granted a temporary commission
as Pilot Officer. Dated 16th December, 1939.
William Keith Paterson is granted a temporary commission
as Acting Pilot Officer while undergoing training with
the Royal New Zealand Air Force as from 23rd October,
1939.
Termination of Appointment.
The appointment of Acting Pilot Officer Warde Phelan
is terminated as from 18th December, 1939.
ADMINISTRATIVE BRANCH.
Transfer.
Flight Lieutenant Henry Steuart Thornsgate Weston is
transferred to the Administrative and Special Duties
Branch with his present seniority as from 14th December,
1939.
Appointment.
Edward John Hankin is granted a temporary commission
in the Administrative and Special Duties Branch in
the rank of Flying Officer as from 4th December, 1939.

Termination of Appointment in the Royal Naval Volunteer
Reserve (New Zealand).

Wellington, 10th January, 1940.
HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to approve the following termination of appointment
in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand) to
date 29th November, 1939 :—
Lieutenant-Commander Roger Stannard Cameron in the
Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand) to date
29th November, 1939, in order to enable him to accept
a commission in the New Zealand Military Forces.

Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to
approve of the following appointments, promotions,
transfers, and resignations of officers of the New Zealand
Military Forces :—
STAFF.
Colonel E. Puttick, D.S.O., N.Z. Staff Corps, Aide-de-Camp
to the King, relinquishes the appointment of Officer
Commanding, Central Military District, Wellington, on
being seconded to the Special Force. Dated 17th
December, 1939.
Lieutenant-Colonel R. A. Row, D.S.O., N.Z. Staff Corps,
relinquishes the appointment of General Staff Officer,
1st Grade, Central Military District, is appointed Officer
Commanding, Central Military District, Wellington, and
is granted the temporary rank of Colonel while so employed. Dated 18th December, 1939.
COMMANDS.
Major H. W. D. Blake, Regiment of N.Z. Artillery,
relinquishes command of the 16th Light Battery on
being seconded for duty with the Special Force. Dated
8th November, 1939.
Captain N. W. M. Hawkins, Regiment of N.Z. Artillery,
is appointed to command the 16th Light Battery.
Dated 21st December, 1939.
N.Z. STAFF CORPS.
The undermentioned Staff Cadets, on graduation from the
Royal Military College of Australia, to be Lieutenants.

Retired List, to be Lieutenant-Colonel, and is appointed
Embarkation Staff Officer. Dated 1st January, 1940.

is appointed Assistant Embarkation Officer. Dated
lst January, 1940.
Hon. Captain G. Pricior, Retired List, to be Captain, and
is appointed Assistant Embarkation Officer. Dated

Captain O. E. L. Rout, B.D.S. (N.Z.), N.Z. Dental Corps,
to be Captain, and is appointed Principal Dental Officer,
Dental Section, Burnham Military Camp. Dated
25th November, 1939.
Frederick Charles Gentry, M.B.E. (late Captain, N.Z.
Army Service Corps), to be Captain, and is appointed
Railway Transport Officer, Wellington. Dated 16th
December, 1939.
Lieutenant C. L. Meredith-Kaye, Retired List, to be
Lieutenant and is appointed Deputy Assistant Quarter-
master-General, Southern Military District, Christchurch.
Dated 5th December, 1939.
Rudolph William Mallasch to be Lieutenant and is appointed
Mechanical Transport Technical Officer, Trentham
Military Camp. Dated 13th December, 1939.
QUEEN ALEXANDRA'S (WELLINGTON WEST COAST) MOUNTED
RIFLES.
Captain L. R. Neilson relinquishes his commission on
appointment to a short service commission in the N.Z.
Staff Corps. Dated 3rd September, 1939.
THE AUCKLAND (EAST COAST) MOUNTED RIFLES.
Lieutenant A. M. Jordan relinquishes his commission on
