THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service :-

Victor Roy Crowhurst,
to be an Official Assignee for the Northern Supreme Court District for the purposes of the Bankruptcy Act, 1908, as from the 18th day of March, 1940.

Brook Abbott Taylor,
to be an Examiner of Stallions for the purposes of the Stallions Act, 1938, as from the 26th day of February, 1940.

Claude Oswald Pratt,
to be Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Wanganui, as from the 22nd day of February, 1940.

Frederick James Payne,
to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Wanganui, as from the 22nd day of February, 1940.

Trevor James Otway,
to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Mercer, as from the 9th day of February, 1940.

Bruce McFarlane,
to be Registrar of Births and Deaths at Hutt, as from the 7th day of February, 1940.

The Export Licenses Regulations 1938.

Office of the Minister of Customs,
Wellington, 1st March, 1940.

IN pursuance of clauses 2 and 15 of the Export Licenses Regulations 1938, I hereby declare that the following goods shall be subject to the said regulations :—

(1) Precious stones and semi-precious stones cut or uncut, if unmounted or unset, exported through the post-office or otherwise.

The above determination will apply to goods laden on an exporting vessel or posted on or after 11th March, 1940.

(2) Goods (being New Zealand produce) exported through the post-office in the course of trade or business.

The above determination will apply to goods posted on or after 11th March, 1940.

Puhinui Water-supply Loan, 1939, £2,650.

Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Puhinui Water-supply Loan, 1939, £2,650, Special Rating Area of the County of Manukau, taken on the 21st day of February, 1940, on the proposal of the Manukau County Council to borrow the sum of £2,650 for the purpose of laying water-mains and doing all other things necessary for the

supplying of water and fire-fighting facilities to properties in the Puhinui Water-supply Special Rating Area in the Papatoetoe Riding of the County of Manukau :-

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the East Tamaki Water-supply Extension Loan, 1939, £2,000, Special Rating Area of the County of Manukau, taken on the 21st day of February, 1940, on the proposal of the Manukau County Council to borrow the sum of £2,000 for the purpose of laying water-mains and doing all other things necessary for the supply of water to properties in the East Tamaki Water-supply Extension Special Rating Area in the Papatoetoe Riding of the County of Manukau :-

Prohibition of Issue of Money-orders and Transmission of Postal Correspondence.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the person whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered under section 32 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928, that no money-order in favour of the said person shall be issued and that no postal packet addressed to the said person (either by his own or any fictitious or assumed name) or directed to the address mentioned in the Schedule hereunder without a name shall be registered or forwarded by the post-office of New Zealand.
