Building, Wellington, on Tuesday, the 19th day of March, 1940, at 12 noon.

PUKEKOHE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

Extract from the minutes of proceedings of the Pukekohe Borough Council at a meeting of such Council held on the 21st day of February, 1940.

Moved by His Worship the Mayor (J. Routly, Esquire).

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and any amendments thereto respectively, and of all other powers (if any) it thereunto enabling, the Pukekohe Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest, principal repayments, sinking fund, and other charges on a loan or two thousand one hundred pounds (£2,100), authorized to be raised by the Pukekohe Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act, being ten per cent. additional of the Pukekohe Borough Council Drainage Loan of £21,000 (1936), authorized by a poll of ratepayers taken on the 15th day of July, 1936, for the purpose of providing buildings, engines, machinery, and other things and services whatsoever, necessary for the good and efficient drainage and sewerage of that portion of the Borough of Pukekohe defined as the ‘Drainage Area’ in the Pukekohe Borough Council General By-Laws, 1928, Part 15, hereinafter called the ‘Drainage Area,’ the said sum of two thousand one hundred pounds to be allocated for the purpose of completing the drainage and sewerage of that portion of the Borough of Pukekohe defined as the ‘Drainage Area,’ the said Pukekohe Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-fourteenth of a penny (1/14d.) in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the capital value) of all rateable property in the said ‘Drainage Area’ of the Borough of Pukekohe; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty (20) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”

Seconded by Councillor F. J. Morrow, and carried unanimously.

The common seal of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Pukekohe was hereunto affixed at the office of and pursuant to a resolution of the Pukekohe Borough Council in the presence of —

In the matter of the Companies Act, 1933, and in the matter of TAUPO DEVELOPMENT, LIMITED, a company duly incorporated under the said Act.

NOTICE is hereby given that the order of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, Northern District, dated the 22nd day of February, 1940, confirming the reduction of the capital of the above-named company from £72,000 to £8,422, and the minute (approved by the Court) showing with respect to the capital of the company as altered the several particulars required by the above statute was registered by the Assistant Registrar of Companies at Auckland, on the 26th day of February, 1940.

BOROUGH OF LOWER HUTT.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

£5,000 Housing Loan, 1940.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926; the Lower Hutt Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £5,000, authorized to be raised by the Lower Hutt Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the acquisition of land and the erection of workers’ dwellings thereon, and for such other purposes as are permitted by Part XXVII of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the said Lower Hutt Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 36/710ths of a penny in the pound on the rateable value (based upon the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Borough of Lower Hutt; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in every year during the currency of the said loan, for a period of twenty-five years, or until the loan is fully paid off. It was further resolved that this resolution is in substitution for the resolution of similar tenor striking a special rate of 33/710ths of a penny in the pound, passed at the meeting of the Council held on the 12th day of February, 1940.”

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

NOTICE is hereby given that the partnership heretofore carried on at Petone by Messrs. A. M. and M. L. MACDUFF, under the firm name of Arctic Ice Cream Co., has been dissolved as from the 24th day of February 1940, by the retirement of Mr. M. L. Macduff who has disposed of his interest to Mr. A. M. Macduff. The business will be carried on in the same premises by Mr. A. M. Macduff.

AN extraordinary general meeting of shareholders will be held in the Tarata Hall on Wednesday, 13th March, 1940, at 8 p.m.

Business.

(1) To receive the liquidator’s account of the winding up of the company and his report and explanation of same.

(2) To consider and if thought fit pass the following extraordinary resolution:—

“That pursuant to the provision of subsection 1 (b) of section 275 of the Companies Act, 1933, the books and papers of the company, and of the liquidator, shall be disposed of by their being left in the custody of the liquidator for a period of two years from this date and then destroyed.”
