THOMAS CAGNEY, Returning Officer for the election
of a member of the Southland Land Board, do hereby
notify, in accordance with the provisions of section 47 of the
Land Act, 1924, and the regulations made thereunder,
that the only person nominated to fill the vacancy occurring
on the said Board was

James Clarke Paterson, of Wendonside.

And I do hereby declare that the said James Clarke Paterson
is duly elected a member of the Southland Land Board for
a term of two years from the 2nd day of March, 1940.

NOTICE is hereby given that pursuant to an application
in that behalf made to me by the Southland Oyster
Trade Employees' Industrial Union of Workers, registered
number 1474, situated at Bluff, and in exercise of the powers
in this behalf conferred upon me by section 22 of the Industrial
Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1925, it is my intention to
cancel the registration of that industrial union after the
expiration of six weeks from the date of the publication of
this notice in the Gazette, unless in the meantime cause is
shown to the contrary.
