Notice of Intention to take Land in Block VIII, Heretaunga Survey District, for Housing Purposes.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, and section 32 of the Statutes Amendment Act, 1936, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for housing purposes: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Napier and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 1 rood 20 perches.
Being part Suburban Section 14, Awatoto, being Lot 2, D.P. 4696.
Situated in Block VIII, Heretaunga Survey District (Hawke’s Bay R.D.). (S.O. 1984, red.)
In the Hawke’s Bay Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 108693, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block VII, Mata Survey District, for Road.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Post-office at Waipiro and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the Purposes of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, Section 3.
IN terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, the Minister of Transport does hereby declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road, street, or other place to which the public have access therein, shall be subject to the maximum speed-limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.
SCHEDULE.
SITUATED within Whakatane County—
All that area at Ohope Beach bounded to the north by the sea; bounded to the east by a line commencing at the intersection of the southern boundary of Pohutakawa Avenue and the western boundary of the Old Ohope Road (to Opotiki via Wainui) and proceeding in a north-easterly direction across Pohutakawa Avenue and along the said boundary of the aforementioned Old Ohope Road to the Waterfront Reserve and thence in continuation of the same line to the sea; bounded to the south by a line commencing at the aforementioned intersection of the southern boundary of Pohutakawa Avenue and the western boundary of the Old Ohope Road, proceeding thence in a westerly and north-westerly direction along the southern boundary of Pohutakawa Avenue to its intersection with the south-eastern boundary of Ohope Hill Road; thence across the last-mentioned road and proceeding in a north-westerly direction along the south-western boundary of the right-of-way fronting the Ohope Beach and terminating at the north-western end of the said boundary of the right-of-way; and bounded to the west by a right line from the north-western end of the south-western boundary of the aforementioned right-of-way to the sea; the boundaries of the whole area being indicated by a green border on the plan marked TT. 1654, and deposited in the office of the Transport Department at Wellington.

Oil Fuel Retail Hours (Wellington) Order No. 2, 1940.
PURSUANT to the Oil Fuel Retail Hours Emergency Regulations 1940, and pursuant to a requisition in writing received in that behalf, I, Patrick Charles Webb, Minister of Labour, do hereby direct as follows:—
- This Order may be cited as the Oil Fuel Retail Hours (Wellington) Order No. 2, 1940.
- This Order shall come into force on the 23rd day of December, 1940.
- This Order shall apply to all establishments engaged in the sale by retail of oil fuel and situate in the area comprising the City of Wellington, the Boroughs of Petone, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, and Eastbourne, the Town District of Johnsonville, the Makara County, and that part of the Hutt County south of a line drawn between the trig. station named “Rimutaka” (situated in Block XVI, Akatarawa Survey District) and the trig. station named “Paekakariki” (situated in Section 53, Wainui District, Block III, Paekakariki Survey District) and produced to the sea.
- On and after the coming into force of this Order all such establishments except as hereinafter provided shall be closed for the whole of every Sunday and for the whole of every Good Friday, Anzac Day, and Christmas Day, and shall on every Friday and Saturday be opened for the sale of oil fuel at not earlier than 7.30 a.m. and shall remain open till not later than 8 p.m., and shall be closed at all other times on the said respective days, and on every other day of the week be opened for the sale of oil fuel not earlier than 7.30 a.m. and shall remain open till not later than 6 p.m., and shall be closed at all other times on the said respective days: Provided that on the day immediately preceding Good Friday, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day respectively, all such establishments shall be closed at not later than midnight in lieu of the hour hereinbefore prescribed.
- In every successive week commencing upon the coming into force of this Order one of the establishments hereinafter named shall, in the weekly rotation hereinafter set out, but commencing from the fourth week (Howell Motors, Limited), be opened for the sale of oil fuel on every Sunday from
