Transmitting and Receiving Officers for the Service of Notices by Telegraph.

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), and by the regulations made on the 12th May, 1914, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 21st May, 1914, the following officer, at the address set against his name, is hereby appointed transmitting and receiving officer for the purpose of dealing with all notices by telegraph sent under the said Act or regulations, and of signing such certificates in relation to the service of any such notices as are required or authorized to be signed or given under the said Act or the regulations aforesaid :—

Declaring a Citrus-growing District and appointing a Citrus Canker Advisory Committee for that District.—(Notice No. Ag. 3794.)

PURSUANT to the powers vested in me by Part 6 of the Citrus Canker Regulations 1940, I, William Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, do hereby—

(1) Declare, in pursuance of Regulation 6 : 1 of the said regulations, that all that part of the North Island comprising the County of Tauranga including all boroughs and town districts enclosed by or contiguous to the said County shall be a citrus-growing district for the purposes of the said regulations to be known as the Tauranga Citrus-growing District ;

(2) Appoint, in pursuance of Regulation 6 : 2 of the said regulations :—

Arthur Michael Wallace Greig,
Ivan Lloyd Nottage,
Dr. Gordon Heriot Cunningham,
George Thomas Burbery, and
Henry Peto Bryan

to be members of the Tauranga Citrus Canker Advisory Committee ; and

(3) Name, in pursuance of Regulation 6 : 4 of the said regulations,

Arthur Michael Wallace Greig

to be Chairman of the said Committee.

PURSUANT to the powers vested in me by Part 6 of the Citrus Canker Regulations 1940, I, William Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, do hereby—

(1) Declare, in pursuance of Regulation 6 : 1 of the said regulations, that all that part of the North Island comprising the County of Bay of Islands including all boroughs and town districts enclosed by or contiguous to the said County shall be a citrus-growing district to be known as the Bay of Islands Citrus-growing District ;

(2) Appoint, in pursuance of Regulation 6 : 2 of the said regulations :—

Arthur Michael Wallace Greig,
Percy Everett,
Dr. Gordon Heriot Cunningham,
Morris Edgar Marples, and
Herbert Percy Ritchie

to be members of the Bay of Islands Citrus Canker Advisory Committee ; and

(3) Name, in pursuance of Regulation 6 : 4 of the said regulations,

Arthur Michael Wallace Greig

to be Chairman of the said Committee.

Hauraki Plains Drainage Area.—Notice of Intention to make and levy Rates.

Department of Lands and Survey,
Wellington, 22nd November, 1940.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, pursuant to the Hauraki Plains Act, 1926, to make and levy on the unimproved value of all land within the district constituted under the said Act, the general rates to meet maintenance-costs for the period 1st April, 1940, to 31st March, 1941, as described in the Schedule hereto.

The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on the 20th December, 1940.

The valuation roll of the district is open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer’s Office, Room 45, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the office of the Land Drainage Engineer, at Kerepeehi, at all times at which these offices are open for the transaction of public business.


SCHEDULE.

Class A: On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by the appraiser appointed under the said Act, fourpence and fifty-four one hundredths of a penny (4·54d.) in the pound.

Class B: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class B, twopence and six-tenths of a penny (2·6d.) in the pound.

Class C: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class C, sixty-five one-hundredths of a penny (0·65d.) in the pound.

Kaitaia Drainage Area.—Notice of making and levying General Rates.

I, FRANK LANGSTONE, Minister of Lands, in the exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, do hereby make and levy on the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town District Subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area, constituted under the said Act, a general rate described in the First Schedule hereto, and on the unimproved value of all land in the subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area outside the Kaitaia Town District the general rates described in the Second Schedule hereto, such respective rates being for the purpose of meeting maintenance-costs for the period from the 1st April, 1940, to the 31st March, 1941.

The said rates, together with the annually recurring special rates already made and levied, will be payable in one sum on the 28th November, 1940, to the Collector of Rates, at the Chief Drainage Engineer’s Office, Room 45, 1st Floor, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, at which office the rate-book will be available for inspection. A copy of the rate-book will be available for inspection at the office of the Chief Drainage Engineer at Kaitaia.


FIRST SCHEDULE.

TOWN SUBDIVISION.

On the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town District, sixty-six one-hundredths of a penny (0·66d.) in the pound.


SECOND SCHEDULE.

RURAL SUBDIVISION.

Class A: On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, twelvepence and twenty-one one-hundredths of a penny (12·21d.) in the pound.

Class B: On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class B, fourpence and twenty-eight one-hundredths of a penny (4·28d.) in the pound.

Class C: On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class C, one penny and eighty-three one-hundredths of a penny (1·83d.) in the pound.

Dated at Wellington, this 27th day of November, 1940.
